Attending your ex’s wedding is probably the least advised course of action you could take, but you’d suffered so much humiliation from being dropped so suddenly, only to have Rory move on with the next woman who hopped into his bed. This would be a grand opportunity to show up with your head held high and show everyone how well you’ve been despite the heartbreak–so well, in fact, that you dared to show up to this wedding at all.
“It could be,” you finally concede with a shrug. Then, your eyes light up with a devilish idea. “But, he’s the one who invited me, right? It won’t be a surprise when I show up. Plus, it might be easier if someone goes with me…and maybe, I don’t know…plays the role of my new boyfriend…?”
There’s a moment of silence as your statement settles. You watch Andrew’s face screw up in confusion, head tilted the way he always does when thinking. Then, his eyebrows fly up in understanding.
“Oh, no. Absolutely fucking not.”

Grace watches him roll away, feeling like he's already losing Rocky. It's a dumb thought, but he's a dumb human, and it seems his dumb heart has come online for the first time ever.

Harry Potter was done.
All he had ever wanted was a little less time at the Dursleys. Technically, he got his wish after the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. But he had been picturing something along the lines of a quiet holiday in Italy, not a stint in Azkaban.
One year later, Harry is released, only to discover that Italy is still very much not on the table and, somehow, he’s being sent straight back to Privet Drive.
Fortunately for the plot, Sirius decides that witnessing the murder of a classmate clearly wasn’t enough trauma for one lifetime and drops a small, life-altering detail: Harry’s parentage is not what he thought. And if Harry can survive a basilisk, the Triwizard Tournament, and Umbridge, then surely he can survive a trip to New York to get himself emancipated.
Because what could possibly go wrong?
A new job, a government interrogation or two, and an unexpected rivalry over blueberries later, Harry finds himself wondering why everyone makes such a big deal about Tony Stark.

Tommy stops the blade on its edge where he assumes Jere’s heart is, pointing directly at the organ under the skin, muscle, bones, his grip on the handle firm and stable. The tip presses into the skin with just enough force not to draw blood.
“D’you think you could take it? If I pushed the blade in right here,” he whispers into Jere’s ear.
