He looks at George, and he wants. An incessant need burns beneath his skin, builds up hotter and hotter every second. It's grown from that very first day they met, from a tiny spark to an inferno, white-hot. No matter how many times Dream tries to suffocate it, it just comes back, stronger and hotter and slowly burning him alive. It'll kill him if he lets it, and he can't let it.

He had left many years ago, leaving nothing but memories of a blonde boy with endless determination and sweet laughter that had blurred as the years passed by.

When George first met the tall, freckled child who called himself Dream, he thought the other boy was bonkers. Strange clothes, a foreign accent, a closely-guarded secret — what was George supposed to make of his new next-door neighbor?
Despite the newcomer’s strangeness, the two boys quickly forge a friendship. George soon realizes that he and Dream have a lot more in common than he first thought.

George keeps quiet; he wants to speak up, maybe say something encouraging, but he worries that if Dream's interrupted he'll lose his train of thought or maybe drop the subject altogether. He shifts in his seat instead, one knee coming up to his chest as he rests his elbow on it.
"I'm not, I think-" Dream lets out a huff, the sound nearly too faint for the microphone to pick up. "I'm pretty sure I'm bisexual."

"Fine." His chair groaned as he stood, drawing himself up to his full height despite the ache in his ribs. "But I have conditions."

"Yes," George spoke with finality.
Techno sighed low in his throat. "Go on then."
"I get to kill him."
The silence was deafening.
"What?"
"The King." Black venom dripped from his tongue and his nails dug into his shaking palms. Bitterness rose in George's throat as he spat, "He stole everything from me. He took my life from me. And I want to be the one to return the favor."

Orphaned at a young age due to his relations with magic and thrown into the King's coal mines, George has wanted nothing more than to get his revenge on the man who stole everything from him. When a rebel group hears of his story, and more importantly, the power he holds, it's not long before he's thrown into a plan far too large to comprehend.
When he starts to find what he's been missing his whole life in the form of a group of ragtag dissenters and one masked warrior, it's far too easy to forget- the King is never far behind.

Wilbur felt close to hysterical.
“You never stood for anything at all George, that's the problem.”
He wanted to laugh, but his throat closed up - all that escaped his mouth were hackled coughs.
“How do you feel about me then? Am I your favorite prisoner?"George flinched at Wilbur's harsh words.
“Why can’t you just admit that you feel it too?”“Just because I’m not biting the hand that’s feeding me, doesn’t mean I’m in love, George.”
The lie felt heavy on his tongue but it was still easier than admitting what he already knew, what George knew as well. That there were gentle feelings blossoming in his chest that didn’t belong in a place like this.
