Mike realizes, distantly, that he stopped breathing somewhere between Will’s first stuttering words and the way his own hands began to shake. There was a quiet, awful awareness that his chest had suddenly gone too tight, like his body was bracing for something it already knew was coming. His heart was pounding too fast, pounding against his ribs like it wanted out before his mind could catch up with what was about to happen. Mike always trusted his brain more than his body. Right now, it seemed his body was betraying him.
“And I, uh, I had this…this crush on someone,” Will said, voice unsteady, thin like it might snap if he pulled the topic too hard. “Even though I know, I know they’re not like me.”

Branch lived in isolation on his own, gray, since he was a child. What if he coped in a different way than what was in the movies? I mean, if eating trolls made the Bergens happy…why shouldn’t it make others happy too? Being surrounded by them, they’re so close by, so easy to be near, easy to grab. Trolls are so trusting, so happy…Branch deserves to be happy, doesn’t he?

Those who were still on their guard, trying not to make a sound in case something else began. Those who were just relieved that it was finally over. One of those silences, didn't match the others. Harry Potter sat in silence because he identified old friends, classmates, people he considered family, lie on the cold ground of a broken school from war. He had watched most everyone he cared about in his life die, and he sat through it once more. Harry Potter was at fault, he knew he was at fault and he didn't know how to apologize and tell everyone how sorry he was that he was the cause of their loved ones deaths.
He felt as if he should've been punished, though he's been punished enough. In the end, it's not his fault.
