“Okay,” Eddie says, apprehensively, as he thinks back to every plant he’s ever killed in his life. “You know I have a black thumb right? I don’t know how much I’d be able to help with this.”
Christopher rolls his eyes. Eddie still can’t get used to that, and has absolutely no idea where he gets that from, no matter what his family says. “You’re not allowed to do any of it. Buck’s going to help.”

The singular witnessed conversation regarding co-purchased home cleaning products. The lack of personal space followed by the hasty exit when made to interact with an ex of sorts. “He’s, uh, he’s actually my best friend.”
“Hey man, I love that for you. That’s the best way to do it, you know? Wish everyone got that in their relationship.” She's smiling very warmly at him. Buck’s sweating again.

It turns out that Eddie Diaz is a slut.
Now Buck is in no way slut-shaming anyone, he would never, not only because it’s completely unacceptable and people can do whatever the hell they want with their own bodies as long as everything is consensual, but because of the old saying and all - those in glass houses, yadda yadda.
Buck knows slutty, he was slutty, but Eddie’s slutty is a whole other kind of slutty, not like Buck’s, which was sad and lonely and done for reasons he’s needed a lot of therapy to come to terms with, but Eddie’s? Eddie’s is fun and happy and joyful sluttiness.

Hen blinks, clearly taken aback by the question. “I didn’t know you and Natalia were so serious.” There’s an odd note in her voice; caution, probably, and Buck finds his throat tightening and heart pounding as his eyes dart around the empty loft, scared to be caught like he’s doing something wrong by asking for an answer to a question he’s already answered.
“We’re not,” he blurts out, face red. “I’m not– I don’t even have a ring, and we haven’t really talked about it, but I was just curious. I mean, you should know since you two got married like, twice, right?”
“That’s true.” Hen hums, then huffs out a laugh just the right amount of soft for this sweet pre-dawn moment. “As cheesy as it sounds, I guess that when you know, you know.”
Yeah, he was afraid she’d say that.
[After eight months of dating, Natalia begins dropping hints for their future together and Buck begins to question if this is what he really wants. One day later, a proposal is made in a kitchen over tiramisu.]

Hi,” was all he managed, as his brain desperately tried to reconcile this person—this very tall, very broad, very hot person, Jesus fucking Christ—with the Mr. Buckley that Chris rambled about constantly, the one who loved Lord of the Rings and was an endless repository of fun animal facts. (Did you know a group of owls was called a parliament? Eddie didn't, not until last week.)

She gives him a sympathetic smile, and Eddie has to restrain himself from slamming his fists on the desk. He clenches his fists at his side instead, his chest still heaving from sprinting across the airport.
“Surely you can make an exception for this man who is serving our country,” a voice says from beside him, friendly and polite. Eddie watches a bright smile spread across the other man’s face, and he notices that he seems to be completely collected despite that fact that he was sprinting as fast as Eddie was just moments ago.
“I’m sorry, sir, there’s nothing I can do.” She looks at Eddie, a flash of pity crossing over her face. “And thank you for your service.”
