Summary
The crab cake is good. The way Evan is looking at Tommy is better. He’s so earnest — so sweet. Tommy takes a second and he’s going to press his smile down, respond with a flirty wisecrack, but… Evan’s being very frank with his admiration, and Tommy finds that he wants to be, too.
He smiles back and knows that it probably looks goofy, and doesn’t care.

Summary
Tommy tells Buck that he isn’t ready and Buck takes it as a challenge.
There is a gay club on the way from Maddie’s to Buck’s and Buck can’t stop his eyes from sticking to the turned-off neon sign as he drives past it - it’s not the first time, he realizes at the same time the car behind him honks. He speeds the rest of the way home but without conscious thought the club’s instagram page ends up on his screen by the end of the night.
It takes a week until he ends up going there though, and his heart pounds with the beat of the music blasting from the speakers. He slides up to the bar with all the confidence he can muster and orders two tequila shots, and then a beer as if that will make it any less obvious that he feels like an imposter standing here.

“Eddie,” he says, thrusting a hand to him, and Buck reaches over without a second thought. His whole palm feels electric, it smarts and carries the touch of Eddie, Eddie, that Buck feels it completely. So, when the lightning strike finally provided the impetus for Bobby to admit that he also brought a kid into their family, she had every intention of seizing the opportunity to properly integrate Buck into the Grant-Nash family.

“He’ll stay with me until everything is sorted out.” Eddie doesn’t hesitate. It won’t be the first time they’ve lived together. They spent months crammed into Buck’s tiny apartment with Hen and Chimney during lockdown.
Buck looks at him and doesn’t say anything but Eddie can see the question in his eyes, are you sure?
Eddie meets his gaze, places a hand on his shoulder, and squeezes, always.

They just sat there grinning at each other for a moment before Tommy turned his hand over underneath Buck’s and twined their fingers together. “So when is this wedding?” he asked.
“Oh, uh…three weeks from Saturday.” Buck felt suddenly uncertain. “Is that too soon for you to get off work?”
“No. I’ll look at my schedule when I go on shift later, but it’s not usually a problem.”
“Great!” Buck repeated, starting to feel self-conscious, sitting here grinning at the man like a lunatic. He gave his hand a squeeze and released it to pick up his coffee.
Tommy sat back a little, looking more relaxed. “Hang here a minute, I’m going to get a coffee I’ll actually drink,” he said. “Be right back.” He dropped Buck a wink (God, how was that so sexy) and stood up, taking the other coffee with him.

“Come on, you’re so good at this stuff. You take me and Chris to all of these planned out adventures, and…” he trailed off there, clearing his throat.
Buck took that in, and took a moment to settle the weird flutter he had in his stomach. “Fine. But you have to tell me one thing about them. What do they like?”
“Reading. They, uh, They like reading.”
“Okay. I can work with that. What are you doing tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow?”
“Yeah, dude. No time like the present.”
“What are you going to do, give me lessons?”
“Eddie. This was your idea. If you’re not going to tell me who this person is,” and Buck heard it then, his continued use of gender-neutral words. He soldiered on. “Then I’ll just have to show you what a good date looks like.”
“You’re going to take me on a date?”
“Eddie, please keep up,” Buck said, a joking tone forced over real nerves, “I’m going to show you how to woo someone. That’s what you want, right?”
Eddie swallowed, audible in the otherwise quiet kitchen. “Right.”
“Great, then. Tomorrow it is.”
