And then hold out his arms, and they'd hug, and he'd say goodbye, Clauds, like he'd done a thousand times before, only this time would maybe be the last time. At least for a long time.
That's what he wanted to do. Soren opened his mouth, and-

Soren walks away. Claudia has never given anything up without a fight.

Summary
Jaskier had quickly abandoned the Path once he was out in the world. He’d chosen a name, and pursued what he truly wanted in life - and it was music, not fighting monsters, because of course it was - and he’d only deigned to act as a witcher until he gathered the not insignificant amount of coin needed to buy himself not only a glamour but the discretion of its creator, which had cost almost as much as the damn thing itself.
If anyone who’d ever known him could see him now, he doubted they’d be too surprised.
Jaskier is a witcher by nature, a bard by choice, and a general nuisance by sheer force of personality.

Summary
Today, Obi-Wan thought, was a good day. Everything seemed to be up and running, and he’d caught the blue milk wanting to expire soon before it did. The chrono had yet to read 0730, and already, Obi-Wan had served breakfast.
He knocked on the door to the other bedroom, and, after a period of no answer, surmised its occupant was still asleep. He sighed, leaving the tray on the low table beside the door - placed there for this very purpose - and retreated to the kitchen, absent-mindedly picking up the datapad from the counter and flicking through the news.
The Empire appeared to be doing well.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is not alone when he withdraws into exile on Tatooine. Mace Windu is not going to sit by and idly accept the Imperial interregnum.

“Your brother wants to talk to you,” the witch said, her stony glare betraying exactly what she thought of that idea... or at least, Philip assumed it did. The truth was that the human face was a lot less good at expressing specific emotion than people liked to collectively pretend it was, but he had just taken a knife to Caleb in front of her, and he’d quite frankly have been surprised if she’d been supportive of Caleb coming anywhere near him after that.
(Possibly, it was a sense of demonic possessiveness that compelled her to be so protective.)
“How fortuitous,” Philip replied, mildly. And it was fortuitous – swaying his brother back to his side was a grand plan, but one doomed to failure from the start without the participation of Caleb himself.
“Indeed,” the hellspawn said, eyes fixed on Philip with a quite frankly uncomfortable intensity. “Are you sane enough to hold a civil conversation with him, or are you going to try and kill him again?”
Caleb Wittebane survives an attempted fratricide.

She hadn't closed her eyes, gazing instead at first the wall behind them and now, the gently-pulsing wisps of her kagune, the flame-like edges flickering to accentuate the more solid centre - the centre that was wrapped around Kaneki like a blanket, a protective shield.

While being pursued by a monster the likes of which they’ve never seen, Geralt, Ciri, and Jaskier attempt to escape into another universe. When the portal collapses with Jaskier still in it, he’s thrown off course and someplace that looks similar to home, but is just a little to the left of normal. Now, Geralt and Ciri must travel the multiverse to find him, before the monster catches up to them and devours them all.

Summary
Essek goes home, and there is no one waiting at his door. This should be some manner of relief. But his towers haven't felt like a safe haven for a long time now, long before errant scourgers appeared to harass him with strange questions. He misses the immediacy of that threat, prefers it over the slow and indulgent terror of whatever punishment is coming for him, someday soon.
He tells himself that he misses only that, the simplicity of being unsafe in the company of predators, and that he does not miss the company itself.
(In which a pair of scourgers shows up at Essek’s doorstep and saves him from himself.)

Summary
Anakin is devastated when Ahsoka leaves the Order. When he is unexpectedly presented with what he thinks is an opportunity to fix things, he doesn't even hesitate—in spite of Obi-Wan's warnings. After all, what's a little bit of harmless time travel?
His plan immediately ends up in the trash compactor when he goes back farther than expected. Much farther.
The High Council thinks that he has been sent back to prevent some terrible tragedy, but all Anakin wants to do is find a way home. Then he meets twelve year old Obi-Wan being sent to Bandomeer and, once again, comes to the wrong conclusion.

God above, as it always would be, he’d prayed, over and over again, sitting vigil at Henry’s bedside; for the first time in either of their lives being allowed the simple domesticity of sitting beside his sick child, worrying, and waiting for him to get better.
