He brushes his thumb along the crook of Zag’s throat, so very sweet, even when he’s rigid with tension. “Wed me.”
Raised by his mother far away from both Olympus and the Underworld, a strange series of events leads Zagreus to meeting a faceless, nameless Chthonic god.

But Hypnos still feels pain, unspoken insecurities and grudges lingering like the snowfall outside their window.

When Zagreus goes missing, Thanatos searches the mortal world for him until he finds him imprisoned on the surface by Demeter in a tortuous state between life and death. Hades and Nyx want to negotiate with Demeter to prevent the feud from escalating, but Thanatos fears that Zagreus may not have time to wait. He might be a god but there is enough mortal blood in him that death could be permanent if he is pushed too far past his limits.
Forbidden from interfering, Thanatos is forced yet again to make difficult choices between his loyalties.Written for the Hades Big Bang 2021.
