Nicholas hadn’t planned to do it. Not here, not like this with grease on his fingers and a soda can sweating on the table. But looking at Euijoo, across from him in the dim halo of Taipei’s streetlights, eyes soft and smile steady, something in his chest cracked open. There was no perfect moment. There was only this one.
“Lets get married." The words slipped out before he could catch them.
Euijoo blinked. “What?”
Nicholas sat up straighter, eyes wide, like he couldn’t believe he’d actually said it.

He’s always given Euijoo rings - plastic ones from claw machines, matching ones copied straight from their favourite movie, and delicate little pieces the younger never took off. But now Nicholas finds himself holding a ring that’s different from all the others.

“You always do this,” he murmured.
“Do what?” Nico asked.
“Forget you’re allowed to take up space.”
Nico stayed still, frozen even, heart pounding in his ears- looking directly into Euijoo’s eyes and an unfamiliar thought crossed his mind. One that he was scared to address aloud but he could feel it all too real, too deep and before he knew, he was already drowning.or: Between tutoring sessions, lingering touches, comforting hugs and quiet tears something much deeper than either of them expected begins to bloom.

Summary
Nicholas would be the rude, broody bully and Euijoo would be the sweet, angelic non-confrontational sweetheart, and their friends would laugh and mediate and roll their eyes. The two of them would play their parts when there were eyes around, friends to cater towards. But when the night lingered, when substance and exhaustion caught up to them, Nicholas would feel that familiar, irresistible pull to Euijoo like they were magnets on an open board.
Euijoo put up with all his shit, all the degrading comments, all the nasty sideglances, because he knew what waited for him when the doors closed.
And then, somewhere around the fifth, sixth time, they stopped pretending it was only a matter of coincidence.
