“I’m sorry for bringing this up, kid,” Aizawa says, “And I wish I didn’t have to, but the police would find an account of your captors helpful for taking the next steps.”
A part of Todoroki feels ashamed at the thought of bringing attention to what he had gone through in those days from hell, what those men had done to him.
But the larger part is tired. He’s tired of concealing his pain. He’s tired of hiding his father’s abuse, deflecting concern when teachers, classmates, even his siblings would question his bruises and cuts when he was just a kid.
He’s suffered through too much. Why should he try to protect other people from hearing the gritty details of the hell he’s been living?
So he sits there in his bed, covered in bandages and sore in places he never knew he could be sore in and tells Aizawa everything.
Day after day, Todoroki goes to sleep and wakes up but no matter how much time passes, he never manages to forget.

Shoto looked down at the hero before plunging the shard into his neck. He ignored the blood that splattered his face and leaked onto his hands. Shoto dug it in further and dragged it in a messy line, tearing the hero’s throat open.
Once the twitching and gasping stopped, he sighed quietly, creating water with his Quirk and rinsing his hands as best he could. There was nothing filthier in the world than killing.

As if Shouto's day could get any fucking worse, what with a month's worth of detention, his classmates being pissed off at him, barely being able to pass his Provisional Hero License Exam, hurting himself with his own Quirk fighting Cider House with Bakugou, the icing on the fucking cake is this.
It's been only an hour since the entirety of Japan has found out about the abuse Endeavour had put him and his siblings through, as well as multiple other things about him and other heroes. Shouto just so happened to be at the very center of it all.
He doesn't know what to do. Shouto can't look anyone else in the eye again without knowing they're staring at him with pity or disgust in their own eyes, or the hushed whispers around him, or how he may get expelled from U.A because of his own family drama and how he'll never be able to save people like he always wanted...
So...
Maybe, just this once...
Finally deciding to run away from his problems could work.
