Seifer’s voice. It’s his hands on her shoulders, his body at her back. Instinctively, she shakes herself out of his grasp and turns to glare at him.
“My problem?” She points at the cabinet, which is still open, perfectly framing the baby dragon and its makeshift bed. “You have a dragon in the kitchen. Are you insane?”
After a traumatic mission, Quistis travels to Edea's house for some solitude and healing. But when she arrives, she finds she has some unexpected company: Seifer and a baby ruby dragon. As they figure out how to coexist, Quistis learns that maybe this is the place and these are the companions she needs to move forward.

The bartender glances at him. “A Deling lager. You want one?”
“No,” she says. “I mean…yes. I’m buying.” She pushes a ten-gil note across the bar top. “But it’s for him.”
The bartender nods, pockets the cash, and, without further comment, gets a bottle of the lager out of the fridge behind the bar. Seifer’s detached expression shifts to surprise when the bartender slides it in front of him. Nervously, Quistis tucks her hair behind her ear and straightens the front of her cardigan, just as the bartender cocks a thumb over his shoulder in Quistis’s direction and Seifer looks at her.
Fifteen years after the Second Sorceress War, Quistis runs into Seifer at a bar on solstice eve.
