007n7 takes a minute. To think of the words he wants to say, the words that stick to his tongue when he looks at Elliot any other time. Elliot lets him think, thankfully. He was too kind.
A pause. Then 007n7 takes a deep breath, stands up, and bows his head.
"I'm sorry, Elliot." He finally says, heart heavy.

Dad gets sad a lot, now. That’s why Noob was staying with them, he’d said, because sometimes when Dad gets sad it’s hard for him to do everything he’s meant to and Noob needs a place to stay so it works out for both of them.
