Summary
Odysseus, Prince and Knight of Ithaca, knows he will not be chosen as Princess Helen's husband and protector, no matter how well he performs in the tournament for her hand. “Though it is in Princess Helen’s name, I know other ladies may offer their favor,” he went on, and while his words didn’t waver his heart seemed caught in his throat, even as it drummed powerfully against his ribs. The noisy chatter of other conversations threatened to drown him out, and he leaned toward her again, unable to look away from her gaze. “Will you be offering yours?”
The flush returned to her cheeks, and her smile bloomed wide. “That depends,” she said, after a moment of thought, lovely eyes soft and sweet, “on who is looking to earn it.”

Summary
He turned his head back a few moments later and his eyes looked sharp with worry, more so than before. Telemachus remembered when he was afraid of those eyes, so full of monstrous looks, peering through his very soul knowing everything all at once. They were still sort of like that but they weren't as scary as they were before.
Telemachus doesn't know how he was ever scared of them in the first place.
When his eyes went back to Odysseus, he smiled at him, "Come on. Dinner's ready."

Summary

Erik Stokes is not known for letting his guard down, but he has a soft spot for natural blondes who sing and from the moment he first hears Amelie sing, Erik knows he has to have her and he is not taking 'no' for an answer.
