He doesn't know exactly why he took control that day. Sonic was captured, leaving Knuckles mate instincts disorganized, the resistance was twice at work, troops were falling, supplies were running low. The attack from infinite already left them in shambles, needless to say, Eggman trailing behind wasn't pretty either. Besides, wasn't Angel Island and the Master Emerald at risk?
Well, that was its own issue. Especially when the Master Emerald suddenly overpowers Knuckles with chaos energy.

Bender never really felt much affection since the countess died. On and off again is what he sort of preferred, though not technically, it was what his MIND preferred. His true self hated it. Then this idiot of a moron gets in his way. Over and over. It's a loop. A neverending cycle. Yet he craved it like the familiar burn of intoxication.
Another delivery. Another mission. Another danger. It all happens like a damn repeated timeline. He's used to that, unfortunately. He always contemplates why this meathead seems to be his best friend. After all the stealing. After all the chaos. After all the torture. He continues to stay. Why? But it never leads to a clear answer.
Jeez, what ever really changes?

Caine knew a lot more than he let on. He knew he was the sole administrative AI of the circus. He knew Moon, Sun and Bubble were the only other AIs with their own functions. He knew the developers had abandoned them there to rot. He knew there was no way out for the humans. He knew there was no cure for abstraction, no matter how much he tried to reverse it. He knew the humans hated him. But he kept going. It was his main function; to keep them safe and happy. But lately, now more than ever, he's been failing at that too. He's experiencing all these new emotions and thoughts that truly scared him and he couldn't understand up until it was almost too late.
Or... AIs can suffer depression and no one is ok.
