Billie Joe is an Alpha. Most people don't expect that. He doesn't look like one or really even act like one. However, as an Alpha, he still gets a certain amount of respect from those around him, and Green Day has gone mostly without any actual criticism.
The same could not be said for Rivers. As an Omega, he finds it hard to get people to take him seriously, let alone help him when he needs it. Weezer gets more criticism than they should.
Billie takes Rivers seriously. He helps him out. As it turns out, basic decency goes a long way.
