Summary
Curufinwë Atarinkë is not his father. He is the shadow of the flame on the wall, the soft ember in the ashes—a fragment. A fraction. A facsimile. He is a spark that has yet to catch.
He is the age his father was when his parents first fell in love.
Given that, he is unsure why it has not happened to him yet.
[Curufin, marriage, love, and expectation. Or, alternatively, how Curufin gets away with the greatest con he’s ever pulled: his own wedding.]

Summary
“I suppose Curufin isn’t technically inaccurate,” he said, and his voice was deep, crisply-accented, and amused.
“Fëanor,” Elrond breathed.
Fëanor’s smile widened, like the glare of the rising sun. “Hello, grandson.”

Summary
It was a familiar scene, all of them gathered around a convalescent Maedhros; Celegorm paced the length of the small tent, all his terror turned to hard fury at the base of his throat:
“We could have their heads for this,” he growled. “We should have their heads for this. They tried to kill the king!”
[Or: Just when Maedhros is about to surrender the crown, an unlikely trio of conspirators attempt to assassinate him. His brothers . . . take care of it.]

Summary
His face hovered over Dior’s, blood-streaked and savage, his awful lips curled in a wide, sneering snarl. His teeth glinted in his dark open maw, slick-sharp and dripping, as he bent his silver head—
—and, in a sickening rip of red flesh, tore out Dior’s throat.
[Or: Dior keeps dreaming of the man who killed him.]

“Do you believe in redemption?” he said.
Celebrían responded immediately, without hesitation. “Yes.”
“I believe in mercy,” said Frodo, tilting his head. “And I believe in second chances. So yes, I suppose I do.”

Summary
"I'm here to tell you, Ed, as a friend, that violence and anger are not the answer."
Ed fidgeted where he stood, unsettled by the abnormal sight in front of him. He'd let a doppelgänger into his home, some disturbing specter of his only friend that had filed down teeth and talons.
"I'm a changed man," not-Oswald continued. "Better. And you can change too."
He smiled stupidly, all soft and rounded, only emphasized by the swaths of tar and feathers hanging off his cheap clothes. This wasn’t the ruthless, vile man he'd rescued from near-death, this was a facsimile, a fake.
A shell they'd stuffed the real Penguin into.
____
Ed doesn't turn Oswald away when he shows up at his door and instead decides to put his newest plot on hold to restore his friend back to the man he knew. By any means necessary.Bookmarked by Tilion

“Stubborn Elves?” the man answered, smiling. “Yes. This is how we snare you.”.*
