It was Mira who finally decided that enough was enough. When Zoey's knot finally went down enough for the alpha to pull out, and Rumi stubbornly decided to shower alone instead of with her mates, the omega confronted Zoey.
"We need to talk about Rumi," she said, hands lathered in shampoo as she cleaned Zoey's hair.
Her girlfriend's tail, which was spraying water everywhere with each wag, suddenly stopped. "Er, what about her?"
"You know exactly what," Mira growled, pulling on Zoey's ear.
Zoey yelped. "Okay, okay! Warn a girl before you do that, jeez."
Mira rubbed at the base of the ear as an apology, and she felt Zoey lean into her touch. "So Rumi…" she trailed off, letting Zoey speak.
"Has some trouble finishing."
"I'd say a lot of trouble," Mira said, nudging Zoey under the water to rinse her hair and fur, "but I'm just the omega who begs to be knotted by her every time we have sex."

Kaz froze.
The girl said nothing. She simply stepped closer, her hair whispering against the floor, the pan still raised.
“Who are you?” she demanded, voice trembling only slightly.
Kaz’s instincts—usually razor-sharp—had gone completely silent. He’d faced killers and liars and saints pretending to be both. But this girl, in her white shift and the strange glow dancing through her hair—she looked like a miracle that had teeth.
He adjusted slightly, wincing. “I could ask you the same thing.”
She frowned, grip tightening on the pan. “This is my tower.”
Kaz let out a faint, amused breath. “Didn’t see your name on the wall.”
