Percy has known love in all its different forms and he knows that he’s never felt this kind of love before. It’s all consuming and selfless because Percy can see the good in Apollo just as much as he’s familiar with the bad and he wants him to know that he loves all of him. Percy wants Apollo to receive kindness and love and devotion because he deserves it. He isn’t owed this but Percy will give it freely.
Meanwhile, Apollo is weak and he is wanting. He has tried to remain aloof in the face of Percy Jackson's feelings but he has to face the facts and the truth is: Phoebus Apollo has fallen in love with Perseus Jackson, Son of Poseidon and Sally Jackson. He thought it was possible to ignore the growing fondness he had for him but Percy proved to be tenacious and well, it’s against his very nature to not love him back. He isn't known as the god with a mortal heart for nothing, after all. Even if this ends with his heart bleeding and broken, Apollo will gladly still be with Percy. This has been a love story in the making for years now.

"It was pretty," Percy answers honestly, not one for poetics. Though he knew 'pretty' couldn't possibly capture the feeling that the sunset had left in his chest.
"I think you're pretty," The other says, fast and unabashed. Percy snorts; it's a corny attempt at flirting, his cheeks heat just the same.
"Cute," He comments blandly, lifting an eyebrow at the other as Apollo laughs.
Percy can't help but think that if anyone could have a laugh that sounds like music, of course, it would be the god of song himself.

When he looked up to watch Percy finally he saw the pain, crimson eyes, thousands of cuts. Their foreheads touched, he rested his on Percy’s. Things could never be simple with a man like him, Perseus stepped away, pushed the god off him. Apollo thought of his own warmth and found the man -not a child, not for long- found comfort in the cold.
