Summary
When your boyfriend, Rory, first revealed that he was a vampire, you didn't know how to react. Sure, you were obsessed with all things vampire, attending multiple Dusk fan conventions with your equally obsessed best friend, Erica, but the thought of Rory being seventeen for eternity while you continued to age without him filled you with sadness. Still, despite the whole immortality dilemma, having a vampire for a boyfriend proved to have its perks.

Peter is understandably confused as he is trans ( and knows cap accepts him) and cap is dating bucky.
Cap forgot what century he was in and tried to warn someone to keep them from getting hate crimed and ended up accidentally threatening them (apparently a very tall buff white guy saying “don’t do that in public if you know what’s good for you” is very intimidating).

There he stood, before his boyfriend, in his underwear with a blanket thrown over his shoulders and a rubbed-raw nose. His eyes were watering with the pain that was shivering through his body. Bucky’s fingers reached out and brushed a stray hair out of Steve’s face, and Steve leaned into the chill that was on his boyfriend’s fingers.

“Is what strange?” Steve asks. It’s common knowledge at this point that Bucky falls asleep anywhere and everywhere. No one ever questions it.
“That he’s sleeping.” Natasha says.
“I’m more worried about him sleeping at all than when he does it.”
“But- Here?” Natasha questions. Bucky is exposed here, vulnerable to anyone in the entire building. Steve never really thought about it because Bucky has done this ever since returning.

Steve switched off the lights in the rest of the apartment on his way back to bed, a towel wound low around his hips.
Bucky sat on the edge of their bed, head low, shoulders hunched. Steve’s hopes of pulling him into his arms and drifting off together stalled at the hazy look in his eye.
“Buck?” Steve crouched down, peering through the curtain of dark hair. A knot of dread ensnared his gut. “Bucky?” The scene was familiar in all the wrong ways.
“Steve?” Bucky’s voice was soft, confused. Steve’s heart cracked. Despite all his promises to never flinch away from Bucky’s recovery, he was never prepared for how much it hurt.
OR
It's been over a year since Bucky had a regression. Steve does his best to shepherd the soft strange version of his husband back to himself, but can't help but feel like it's a loss every time.

The one constant of life is that things change. They stay moving. Clothing fads fall in and out of fashion, technology evolves faster than one can understand it, the century turns and so does the whole goddamn world.
One thing that doesn’t change- whether it’s 1943 and they’re in military khaki or the 21st century and incapable of sending one stupid text- is Steve and Bucky. It’s always been them. The only two people in the entire world who understand what the other is going through. Ghosts of a war they thought was long gone, hoping their beings would be the last remnant of it. Watching history repeat itself and their skeletons unearth.
Stuck being each others’ safest space.
