When he first meets him, a curse stuffed down his throat by his own doing and a malevolence brewing in his belly that isn’t his own, Yuuji doesn’t know what to think of Gojo Satoru.
He can't decide whether the guy is a delightful asshole in name and face, or a subtly distant person that measures up when he's needed. It's confusing, and more than a little difficult to figure out in between the chaos of learning how to be a sorcerer; learning how to live with his new skin-deep friends; learning that maybe, his truth isn't much more than a hollow one.
In learning that his odd teacher is just another one of them, just as wordless in anything that matters, and just as human when it counts. There's a person below that blindfold, and it's as surprising as it isn't to twist along in the maze, until he learns enough to find him.

“You still need to learn,” Nanami says, pausing to cross one leg in sharply ironed slacks over the other, “what being a good teacher actually entails.”
That’s unusually sassy for him. The pose is normal, the way he rolls every word out like he’s stretching a stiff muscle is typical, the unprovoked insult to Satoru is expected. But interrupting his own line delivery?
That’s scandalous.
“I’m the best teacher!” Satoru protests, “And why does a teacher need to learn, anyways? I’m the one doing the teaching.”
“Of course you would say such a ridiculous sentiment so brazenly.” Nanami uncrosses his legs. “This conversation is only strengthening my judgment of your poor character.”
It would be more strange for Nanami to not sound serious, but the warning bells tucked away in a tiny corner of Satoru’s mind are shaking loud enough to start a sandstorm out of dust.
Satoru is the best teacher ever, if you just ask him. Somehow that isn't enough for Nanami Kento, so Gojo-sensei is on a mission to confirm with all of his precious students that he's a good teacher. Surely they'll all agree with him!

These are unforgivable sins for a god. That’s what Apollo and all of his divine siblings have been taught. That’s what they’ve all, in time, learned to believe. Good people don’t survive on Olympus.
And Apollo is, above all, a survivor.
So Apollo doesn’t want to believe he’s a good person.
This is incredibly uncharacteristic of me, he makes sure to specify every time he does something kind, every time he finds himself unable to hide his shame or guilt or doubt, to hide how much he cares, well past the point where we start realizing that it is, in fact, perfectly characteristic of him.
