It's such a bald statement of fact, it gets a laugh. Castiel's lips curve upwards, and without quite meaning to, Dean leans forward to listen.

Don't laugh at that, you judgemental prick,' he says, grinning so there's no sting in it as he points the mic at a chuckling guy in the front row, 'you think a guy in sweater vest can't get some cock if he wants it? The ice spreading down Dean’s spine makes him shiver.
“I suppose you could say I’m your guardian angel,” the man murmurs. His breath fogs pale between them. All of him is unnaturally warm, like Dean’s touching somebody with the sun sewn up beneath their skin. “I have known you, Dean Winchester, for a very long time.”

“You can’t,” Dean says, sitting at the first table of the library. It’s expansive in front of him in his solitude. It’s too big for a single person.
Cas looks over at the words. Across the room, he frowns.
“I don’t understand,” he prompts, voice low and gentle. Quiet, like they were in a real library.
But his eyes are narrowed. His eyebrows drawn down in suspicion. The book he’s holding stays opened at chest level, and Cas doesn’t lower it when he speaks.
“You know,” Dean says coldly. He can’t meet Cas’s eyes, so he watches his clasped hands on the table. “What you said. You can’t.”

There’s a tag sticking out over the collar of the soft cotton, and it’s an easy distraction from Sam’s droning voice. Dean stares at it for a second before reaching over and tucking it back into its rightful spot, his fingertips brushing the back of Cas’s neck in the process.
“I have The Butterflies,” Cas interrupts Sam to announce loudly.
Dean startles back, and Sam stops talking, looks between the two of them in disbelief. Taylor continues to croon.
