Summary

Caitlyn Kiramman joined the Alliance in the hopes that she could put her excellent rifle skills to good use saving the galaxy from the reapers. She was furious when her politician mother used her overreaching influence to land her a safe and easy post back home at the very colony she was trying so desperately to escape. But when Piltover is suddenly attacked, it seems clear to Caitlyn that the reapers are involved. And – even worse – that they have someone colluding with them from within the colony’s very borders. To stop them, Caitlyn will have to put her trust in the most unlikely of places, and only hope it will be enough to face what lies ahead.
Vi has spent the last seven years trapped in Stillwater Prison, her biotic abilities shackled and her strength used only for punching dents in the walls of her cell and ripping chunks of eezo from the mines in the work camp below. But when an enforcer shows up asking for help finding someone who sounds a hell of a lot like Vi’s little sister, there’s nothing she won’t do for the chance to make things right. Summary
Caitlyn extracts her hand from Vi’s hair to caress her face, waiting for Vi’s eyes to connect with hers. She moves closer, lips parted, and there’s a moment of warm, shared breaths before they’re kissing. Gently, fully, less frantic than their collision in that prison cell but hungrier than the chaste, careful exchanges they have shared up to now. Vi loosens her fingers from Caitlyn’s so she can use both hands to cup Caitlyn’s face, pressing lingering, damp kisses to her mouth. Caitlyn feels it like warm water from her scalp to her toes, making her aware of Vi’s saliva on her bottom lip and the oil on the surface of her skin.
“You deserve to be happy, Violet.” Caitlyn whispers into the heated air between them as they part. Vi responds by pressing her mouth to the underside of Caitlyn’s jaw.

In this sequel to Something to Get Used To, Vi and Caitlyn continue to settle into the life they have chosen to build together as they work in pursuit of a better future for the cities they have both come to love. I had originally posted a version of this a few days ago, that one had references to cult violence and cult themes based on the cult I was raised in. A family member found out and gained access to my A03 and deleted the story and the finalized draft from my computer. If you read the first few chapters of the original version, parts will seem familiar but this is a largely different fic. Hopefully it will serve the story even better than the original version.

This is a post episode 8 look at Cait and Vi and how they navigate their relationships while also healing from all the trauma in their lives. It also acts as a study into the Kiramman Family dynamics, how Cait moves past her time with Ambessa, and how Vi handled life during her Pit Fighter phase.
Flashbacks with Maddie, Ambessa and others serve as missing scenes to give a look into the thought process and reasoning behind much of what we saw in the show.
