"The good news," Fukuzawa continues, "and the reason you two are involved now, is that the subject finally made a mistake and slipped up." He reaches for a remote and turns one of the office monitors toward them. Grainy security footage flickers onto the screen.
Fukuzawa's voice fades into background noise as Atsushi's attention locks entirely onto the face in the grainy security footage. An unsettlingly familiar face.
The quality of the footage is terrible, the video grainy, blurred, and distorted. Under normal circumstances, that type of footage wouldn't be nearly enough to identify a person.
But Atsushi would recognize this face anywhere.
Black hair fading into white at the tips. Obsidian eyes. A pale, beautiful face, Atsushi spent the better part of the week trying not to think about. His stomach drops.
OR:
It's just Atsushi's luck that the man he awkwardly asked out a few days ago turns out to be the very assassin he's been assigned to take down.

Sunset eyes gaze into Akutagawa's dark soul. The man couldn't understand anything about the weretiger. Absolutely nothing. He was simply incomprehensible, illogical and overly emotional. His self pitying ways made him want to stab his unbearable heart to little bits.
Never once did it occur to the man that those traits, that emotion, that incredibly overbearing, infuriating and self-destructive nature could be the reason for why people found it hard to dislike him.And since he couldn't for the life of him understand this he also could never understand why his heart ached at the expression the weretiger made when he uttered those words.

Seriously, what was the point of this? Was Akutagawa just trying to make his life difficult on purpose? He wouldn't put it past the guy...maybe he was still mad at him. Not that Akutagawa wasn't already in a perpetual state of being mad at him. But Atsushi could still vividly remember the hateful glint that sparked in his eyes when his head had hit the back of the wall.
Atsushi had hurt him then, hadn't he? He hadn't meant to. All he knew back then was that he was being attacked, and when he saw an opening, he took it.
✩The Armed Detective Agency finds themselves on a cruise. They think they're here on a mission, but Atsushi knows the truth. This is all actually an elaborate scheme to get the stressed detectives to go on vacation. A scheme that becomes much more difficult when the Port Mafia is discovered to also be on board.
Meanwhile, Akutagawa is ordered by Dazai to investigate a series of mysteries while keeping his own presence on the ship a secret. Things go wrong however when a) his illness starts affecting him more than normal and b) The stupid fucking weretiger spots him.
In the cabin above them, Dazai and Chuuya share a room. They are not happy about it.
