Summary
Charlie half-smiled at the text despite the throbbing in his head, and pocketed his phone for the walk to Tesco. After a second of consideration, he popped in his airpods, not to listen to music, but to dull the overwhelming array of sounds that he knew would be plaguing the grocery store.
He blinked and rubbed at his eyes as he walked, frustrated with the way he was losing vision to the pounding in his head - something that only rarely accompanied his migraines. With gritted teeth he trudged into the shop, knowing that he only had to get in, grab the items Nick wanted quickly and get out, and then he could go back to bed.
Charlie grabbed a hand basket and made his way through the aisles, throwing the necessary items inside as he came across them. He grabbed himself a can of Tropical Redbull as a consolation prize for having gotten up and gone out of the flat with a migraine that, mere hours earlier, had caused him to throw up with its intensity.

Summary
Before Charlie could look away, Nick caught him staring. His eyes were helpless and imploring and, fuck, Charlie couldn’t ignore him now without seeming like an arsehole.
“You okay?” he asked tentatively.
Nick hesitated, then sat down on the edge of the rain-slicked pavement with an exhausted sigh. “Not really.”
The rugby lot on the first floor—otherwise known as the Frat Floor—are notorious for partying, getting piss drunk, and keeping the rest of the student building up at four in the morning. So when Charlie finds Nick Nelson throwing up one night, he assumes the rugby lad brought it on himself.
He soon realises two things. Firstly, how wrong he is. And secondly, that Nick has no one to take care of him. Unless Charlie takes matters into his own hands.
OR
Nick winds up with a bad case of freshers’ flu and no one to help him (because his friends are useless). Charlie steps in to make sure he’s looked after. Feelings ensue.

Charlie was more than ready to settle in bed with Nick for the night. He eagerly chased his boyfriend up the stairs towards his room, making grabby hands for Nick’s sweatshirt.
“Oi, give me a minute,” Nick grumbled, batting Charlie's hands away as he tugged at the hem of the jumper. “Charlie, I’m literally trying to take it off, for you!”
“Well, you aren’t taking it off fast enough, so I thought that I could give you a hand.” He gave Nick a cheeky grin and nearly sighed in happiness when Nick tossed him his sweatshirt.
“Your pajama pants are in your bag, right Char? I can grab them for you.”
Charlie was so enthralled in swapping his cardigan and t-shirt for Nick’s jumper; still warm and smelling like his boyfriend that he failed to hear not only Nick, but the sound of his bag being opened. It wasn’t until Charlie heard Nick’s gleeful, “oh hello!” that he remembered what exactly was in his bag.

Charlie tries to talk again, taking a few breaths in. He wants to talk to Nick like he normally does, he wants to tell Nick what happened. He tries to speak, but the wall holding his words inside of him doesn’t crack, he still can’t seem to say a single word out loud. He can’t even form them in his head now he finds. It makes him want to rip out his hair and scream until all these words, everything he is feeling, spill out completely. He just wants to talk to his boyfriend for fuck’s sake, why does this have to be so difficult? He stutters, trying to say a syllable and fails, a frustrated sob breaking out of him as tears prick his eyes.
