They seem not to react adversely—sticking their tongue out at her and walking over to inspect a metal rack where several different types of stringers are hoisted on display to choose one. They brush their scarlet fingertips across the polished surface of its ink cylinders; the motion is so graceful, so uniform. Marie has to tear her sights away from Shiver and the stringer as she imagines for a split second that her neck is receiving their thoughtful, lingering touch instead.
Or how about this: Marie and Shiver grow close while spending some time in Inkopolis—close enough to explore each other's bodies like they've been dying to since singing the Calamari Inkantation 3Mix together.

Summary
Ren Amamiya has to spend a year on probation in Tokyo for a crime he didn't commit.
Makoto Niijima has to keep her grades and appearance perfect for her last year in high school.
Needless to say, both of them just want to keep their noses to the ground and have a perfectly normal school year. But a talking cat and a dimension made of distorted desires makes things a little weird, and soon enough these two students find themselves on either side of a tense game of cat-and-mouse.
And looming over everything, a gloomy power plant makes their journey much more dangerous.
