Summary
After the eventful trip from Kota to New Hope Station, Verna and Valaska part ways with the crew of Dawn's Horizon.
Verna and Valaska work to get to know each other better, while Valaska deals with the feelings of being home, and being recognized, and Verna learns a bit about normal life outside being a pawn for a nobleman's schemes. Meanwhile Rema and the crew deal with the fallout of Verna's troubles without her, and Reminisce struggles with her past and recent events in equal measure.

Hatching a deal with The Guild Automita, and even then still needing to drop a massive fortune, in a gamble, a slim, pointless, hopeless, futile gamble, that he understands enough to bring low a dragon, to be indited, forever and always, as one of the House of Kinsguard.
What then, if the efforts of all his work isn't for naught? What then, if the scourge of Karagaoni is stopped and her death is recognized as the work of one individual? What then, if that individual is not Varden Drena?

Then Grandmother died; and there was a war.

Summary
Inspired by a tumblr post by libations-of-honey-and-milk:
In fairy tales and fantasy, two types of people go in towers: princesses and wizards.
Princesses are placed there against their will or with the intention of ‘keeping them safe.’
This is very different from wizards, who seek out towers to hone their sorcery in solitude.
I would like a story where a princess is placed in an abandoned tower that used to belong to a wizard, and so she spends long years learning the craft of wizardry from the scraps left behind and becomes the most powerful magic wielder the world has seen in centuries, busts out of the tower and wreaks glorious, bloody vengeance on the fools that imprisoned her.
That would be my kind of story.Series
