Tommy's family is shit.
They see him as a form of entertainment, a fun little human boy they can coddle and display. They throw him away once they've gotten bored of him, neglecting him for the next 2 years. He's sick and tired of their awfulness.
So he runs.
He runs into the forbidden forest, where he meets a fae named Dream. A fae, who was originally hellbent on kidnapping him to become his eternal servant. Instantly, he gets way too attached to the kid; who in turn needs a way to escape the clutches of his abusive family."So whadaya say about becoming a fae with me?"
Thus making: a consentual kidnapping. That's not how faerie kidnapping is supposed to work.

Summary
“Why don't you just get rid of him, Daddy?” A five year old Tommy had asked him.
“What do you mean by that, sweetheart?” Dream smiles, but he is uneasy. The dark gleam in Tommy’s eyes is ever present in the moment.
“Get rid of him. Daddy. I mean kill him, duh.”
Alternatively, mafia underboss Dream juggles his work while taking care of his son Tommy. He is terribly in denial of Tommy being anything other than his sweet little angel.
So the first time Tommy kills, Dream is slapped back into his violent reality. It’s like a wall of glass has shattered into a million pieces in front of his face.
Because there is his Tommy. His Toms, his baby.
Standing over a body.

Summary
Tommy's life hasn't really been the best.
Having a dead brother whose ghost haunts him regularly, a random green guy who decided that he was going to abuse him daily, a shitty and neglectful family, people who used to love him now hating him, is quite troubling for his mental health as an average human.
So he wants peace. In the form of dying by suicide. But, like anything good he's ever had, it doesn't work. At all. It also leaves him in the worst possible state ever - limping helplessly and bloody in the frigid, icy cold.
And, after that pitiful attempt and everything that follows after, he has ended up being hunted by people. Along with his infamous tormentor, who seems to have had a change of mind. By a lot. Like to the point he's overprotective.
It leaves Tommy confused, but he's content enough with it. And then chaos with his torturer ensues.
or,
Tommy tries to commit suicide, and ends up in a manhunt, allied with Dream while being hunted by George, Sapnap and Bad. Even after the manhunt, Tommy still has to face the Dream who he's learned to hate, but now he does it with support.

Summary
As Dream was talking to chat, face to face, for the first time, he hears someone knocking on his door. It’s quiet enough that the stream wouldn’t hear it, but he does. He internally groans at the prospect of Tommy barging in on his big face reveal stream, then again, the boy was fond of making big statements and even bigger entrances.

Summary
No one could ever be truly prepared for an apocalypse. Let alone, one as big as this. One full of zombies that spread to and collapsed most of the world in less than five months. But hey, it is what it is.
It was year five of the apocalypse now and Dream could say he’s got this whole ‘every man for himself’ thing down.

Summary
Dream would do anything for Tommy. He would steal, lie, cheat, and kill. Anything to give him a better life. So when the cold rolls in and Dream finds himself injured and Tommy sick, lost for what to do, the only choice is to let himself be vulnerable and be taken in by a stranger. But no one can know he and Tommy aren’t human. They are something far more dangerous, at least that’s what people say.

“I — no! I am definitely, absolutely not on your side!” Tommy shouted. “I — I don’t — I don’t even know why I’m here! It was an accident! Just — go away!”
“Are you, what, actually not a part of this?” not-Dream asked, tiling his head and studying Tommy’s face, his expression. “Shoot. Guess not. Um. Okay, then.” He raised a hand, and took off his mask, revealing his face in a smooth motion that made Tommy’s heart jolt. “Nice to meet you, mysterious visitor. I’m Dream. Welcome to the Hunt.”

Or, after an accidental portal disaster, Tommy ends up on a Server far from the Dream SMP, and meets three hunters whose only objective seems to be killing Dream, and a much different version of Dream, whose only objective seems to be staying alive. (And keeping Tommy alive too, which made absolutely no sense at all.)
