    Toshinori reaches a hand, the one that is shattered beyond repair and drenched in blood. He gives a smile to the boy. He can feel blood smeared across his teeth. He can't imagine his smile is any reassurance, but Toshinori is dying and desperate. A piss-poor smile is all he can give.

    A piss-poor smile, and an earth-shattering quirk.

    'I have a healing quirk,' he lies, begging the boy with his eyes. Please, say yes. Please accept my DNA. 'It only works on others. Let me h-help you? I won't last.' Toshinori's words come more and more haltingly. He can feel cold darkness encroaching on his limbs already. He tilts his hand, just slightly, just enough to renew his offer to the boy. 'At-At least… Not long enough… For help to arrive in time.'

    Yagi Toshinori gets caught in a building collapse in his powered-down form. As he lays dying and without a successor, he offers his quirk to a young boy who is trapped alongside him.

    All Might never makes it out of the building. But Midoriya Izuku does.

    With no parent and a new limb-breaking quirk, he becomes a ward of UA.

    Summary

    My fics based around the same worldbuilding, but not in the same timeline of events - all featuring my hcs for a Quirkless community, mostly based around terms for different types of people, based on their Quirks, that the Quirkless of Japan use as code.

    I've had people ask to use these terms, and I've given permission, however I expect full credit for my terms and Quirkless worldbuilding! If you're using them, please ask me first and absolutely please use my tag! "Ota's Laces Worldbuilding" - that I would ask be added to your fic if you're using my terms as well!!
    If you want, you could also list my Laces fics as an inspiration, include a link to me/my fics in the notes, or otherwise explicitly state that these terms are mine, kay? Please just use my tag no matter what. Thanks!

    Finally, just to say that whilst people can absolutely use these terms (and I've been really excited to see that people actually have!), it doesn't necessarily reflect my full worldbuilding, or fully accurately so - which is not a slight, we're all different authors writing different fics, but I thought it was worth saying that their fics are not representative of my original AU!

    Shouta's gaze moved to his hand, where a tiny, chubbier one wrapped around his index finger.

    He looked at the kid whose eyes are puffy, red, and shiny like he's been crying and giant green irises stared at Shouta’s hand with a level of focus that only a child can have. He turned his gaze to the mother intending to get her attention but the notion died as he scanned the woman, distracted with a not-so-good looking phone call if the worried frown pinching her face and her fingers wringing in the front of her cardigan is any indication.

    He sighed and let the kid play with his fingers, cooperating by turning his hand over when it was gently tugged, and watched the toddler count the lines on his palm in tiny murmurs and intense concentration, poking each one as he went, tired little sniffles every few seconds filling the silence. Looks like Shouta isn’t the only one who had a shitty day.

    Aizawa Shouta, a new prohero, planned on getting some sleep on the train after a long exhausting day, like he always does, before heading back to the police station, but his plans get left at the train stop when a young mother and her toddler board his train.

    Aizawa refuses to let his Problem Child travel back in time alone, even to fix a future where All for One was the victor. They go back with a plan that's more of a list, spend a year technically missing, and become rather effective vigilantes that fix some rather serious problems. And then it's time to be found, which seems to primarily result in lots of support and many hugs. Neither Izuku or Aizawa complain very much.
