Summary
Tommy doesn’t know when he’ll ever get used to having a tail. Probably never. The only time it feels right on him is when he’s next to Techno.

(Techno always seems so proud when he sees their matching tails.
Tommy can’t help but look at his tail and think that it’s just another thing Tommy took from him.)

When Wilbur blinks, his vision focuses. Tommy is crouching in front of him, and Wilbur sucks in a deep breath.
Now that the world is still again, Wilbur is acutely aware of the rapid pounding of his heart, the strum of panic in his veins.
He'd almost died, he realises belatedly.
But he hadn't. Because Tommy had saved him
-Wilbur doesn't want a guard—and he plans on making sure that Tommy knows it. Unfortunately, things change when Wilbur ends up getting more attached than he means to.

It hurts. It hurts so bad he can hardly think through the pain and he wants off the ice.
But Tommy hadn’t gotten where he’d gotten by indulging petty wants, so he just leans on the hockey stick and tries not to keel over.
“You alright?” Techno asks, suddenly in front of him. “Do you—”
“I’m fine,” Tommy lies, and before Techno can call him on it, Tommy makes himself prove it.
Sometimes, it's hard for Tommy to convince himself that he's worth taking care of.

“I’m sorry,” Tommy starts, a shake accompanying the anxious rasp of his voice. “Do I, uh, know you?”
The boy grins, cocky. Not good-cocky like Schlatt, or playful like Sapnap, or sarcastic like George, but cocky in a way that tangles Tommy’s lungs up.
“No,” the guy answers smoothly, rolling his wrists slowly. “But Wilbur does.”
Tommy never knew much about Wilbur's old hockey team—just that they'd hurt him, badly. He never planned on finding out how, but a chance encounter leads to them not giving him much of a choice.

Summary
For a moment, he could almost be in the middle of one of his fancy turns, limbs thrown out deliberately like he’s flying.
Then Tommy slams into the ice.
He slams into the ice and his head bounces off of it.
He slams into the ice and he doesn’t get back up.
After accidentally hurting Tommy during a scrimmage, Wilbur forgets how to trust himself.

Peter landed on his side, ears ringing violently and thoughts hazy. He was shaking, or at least he thought he was, until he hazily looked down. The building was shaking. He snapped his head around to look through a window and watched dust and rubble start to fall past the glass.
“--Peter,” Karen said loudly in his ear when the ringing stopped just enough for him to hear the AI’s urgent voice. “You need to get out of there. The building’s unstable. It’s going to collapse---”
Peter furiously moved for the window he’d broken on his way in but he knew with growing dread that he wasn’t going to make it. His mask lit up at the last second, and he ducked into the only spot highlighted in green.
When he looked up, it was to see the building come down on top of his head.

“Can we just not do this right now?” Peter asked tiredly, glancing at Tony.
There was a beat of silence, and unexpected anger was rising in both of them. Tony because he was tired of seeing Peter deteriorate, and Peter because… well Peter didn’t really know. But he didn’t want to breach this right now. He didn’t want Tony to push him into saying something he shouldn’t. He felt like he was standing at a precipice high above an abyss, and he could either step back and give in to Tony by telling him everything that was going on --- everything Peter was feeling --- or he could stay in place and let the ledge crumble beneath him.

After the reversal of the Snap, Peter isn't doing as okay as he pretends he is. Luckily, he has a certain mentor in his corner to help him through it.

Jason moved so fast that Percy didn't even see the sword coming until it sliced the back of his knee, sending him to one knee with a pained yell, blood quickly soaking the dirt and his jeans.
Percy didn't know what was happening, why Jason had attacked him, until Piper yelled, "His eyes are gold!"

When the Argo II needs to pass over a mountainside, preferably without being blasted by flying boulders, it's Percy, Jason, and Piper who volunteer to scout the area, only for their quest to take a turn for the worse when Jason is controlled by an eidolon and attacks his two friends. With the threat of an army of mountain gods keeping them on the ground, and no way to contact the rest of the demigods, Piper, Percy, and Jason must make it back to the Argo II before it's too late.
