Seven years later, Wilbur was staring at Tommy in disbelief, his hand clutched to his stomach as he felt Tommy’s pain. His legs gave out from under him, onto the same floor Tommy had silently almost-died on, and cried out in desperation. “Tommy! Tell me it didn’t hurt this much for you!”
Tommy sighed sadly, his lungs tight, “I tried to tell you. You told me to grow up.”
And Wilbur remembered.-

Summary
“Have you seen my dark umbrella?” Wilbur asks, scanning the workshop with his dark eyes that gleam dully against his snow-white skin.
Tommy doesn’t even look up, agitation curling in his gut where he’s certain food is supposed to be. “No, why the fuck would I know?”
He sees as Wilbur’s eyebrows raise, as he looks momentarily surprised by the hostility–but as soon as the vulnerability that is expression fades away, he mutters, “Okay, then.”
Tommy ignores the bubbling feeling of guilt mixing itself in with the agitation and turns back to the stupid key as the door slams shut.
It was supposed to be a one-time thing. But it keeps happening.~~~~~~~~~~

Suddenly, a laptop was thunked on the desk in front of Techno, and he looked up abruptly. Standing angrily in front of him was a kid who definitely could not have been older than sixteen, with messy blonde hair and the most obnoxiously red T-shirt to ever exist.
“I don’t think this is the right place for you, kid,” Techno drawled. The angry child blinked once at him. “The middle school’s on the other side of town.”
The child blinked again before drawing up to his full height, which wasn’t even that impressive. “Shut the fuck up, pink-man.” Weak insult, Techno thought idly. My hair is fine. “My laptop’s broken, and you’re sitting at the IT desk, bitch.”
Techno looked away from his monitor and raised an eyebrow. “Have you tried turning it off and back on again?”
The child sputtered. “Obviously, I’m not a fucking dumbass.”

Wilbur’s lips curled into a devious smile. “Better people have tried.”

There’s a grunt. One, two, three, quick and panicked, and suddenly a large, fluffy mass is leaning into Tommy’s space.
Still curled up in pain, Tommy almost misses it—almost misses the dilation of Techno’s pupils, almost misses the constant chuff, chuff, chuff, and snort, snort, snort, as Techno’s head dips down to look at him. But Tommy’s been looking for it all week, so, as if magnetized, Tommy still lifts his pained head upward.

Tommy recognized the statue surrounded by small gifts of gold and jewels (he was devoted to Lady Prime, but he knew the face of Death anywhere.)
Technoblade had a shrine for Lady Death.

Tommy didn't have much. Even as a famous actor, he didn't have many friends or aspirations beyond whatever his agent emailed him.
But then he met his co-star in a new royalty show and it all changed.
He had something. A friend. Maybe even a brother.
Yet, only a brother on screen. Only in the words recited from a script. It wasn't real when Wilbur called him his brother despite the cameras not rolling. It couldn't be.
But he still caved into the part of him that yearned it to be true.
~ 5 times Tommy didn't think it was real + 1 time Wilbur made him believe it.
