“What I’m sayin’ is, if you happen to get yourself into more trouble than you can handle, I would probably not kick you out if you came knockin’ on my window again.”
Tommy’s eyes are saucers: two spiral galaxies brimming with infinite wonder and light.
“For real?” he asks, as suspicious as he is breathless with wonder.
“For real,” Techno echoes dryly back, grinning faintly as he stands. “I’ll come up with a way for you to return the favor.”

The first time Tommy dies, he’s seventeen, and they tell him he’s a hero when the Angel’s bladed feather sinks into his chest.
If Tommy could go back in time and tell himself one thing as blood ran rivers down his chest, it wouldn’t be comforting.
“Get used to it,” he’d say, as cold as the blade that had done this to him. “This is all you are now.”

Wilbur’s heart free-falls to the depths of his stomach when Tommy is dragged into the cell.
“Tommy!” he shouts, voice breaking over his name, body lunging forward against the chains holding him. “Tommy, no, how– how did he get you?”
Tommy’s eyes widen when he sees him.“Wil–"
His voice breaks with a small grunt as he's thrown onto his knees at Wilbur's feet.

"Don't do anything to him," Tommy manages, heartbeat throbbing and throbbing. "Please."
Wilbur frowns, but it's Techno who steps forward. "Tommy, he's not going to do anything," Techno tells him cautiously. "You don't need to worry, alright?"
To you, Tommy would say, if he was stronger. He's not going to do anything to you.
But he doesn't. Tommy keeps his mouth shut—whatever it takes to stay.
When Techno and Wilbur Soot-Watson anger a bully, it shouldn't be an issue. They are as untouchable as they can get, for students anyway.
It's unfortunate that Tommy, their foster brother, isn't. Being their soft spot, it only makes sense that he becomes the next target.

Tommy doesn’t know when he’ll ever get used to having a tail. Probably never. The only time it feels right on him is when he’s next to Techno.

Tommy stays silent, only a jagged little breath escaping him, lungs wheezing unnaturally against Ranboo’s arms. Ranboo loses every scrap of hesitation.
“Just this once,” he breathes, cradling Tommy tight. “Just this once.”

A plea shatters across his face, begging and begging.
“You can fix him,” the fledgeling sniffles. “That’s what everyone says. Vampire blood is magic.”
“Little one,” Phil begins softly, straining forward in his chains. He doesn’t have a heartbeat, but pity pangs so strongly inside of him that it feels like one. “I can only- I can try."
-Tommy traps a vampire in order to save his brother. Phil is never one to pass up an opportunity to expand his coven - even an unusual one. (ft. vampire!phil treating an abduction as a bonding experience.)

He can’t help it. All he can do is look at Wilbur and wonder who is talking to him: his best friend and co-star, or Wilbur’s character.
Tommy, nauseatingly, cannot tell the difference.'

Now that the world is still again, Wilbur is acutely aware of the rapid pounding of his heart, the strum of panic in his veins.
He'd almost died, he realises belatedly.
But he hadn't. Because Tommy had saved him
