The kingdom of Lawrence has been without a crowned ruler since old King Fergus died heirless more than six months ago. Summary
Dean’s finally come to the conclusion that his life will benefit from him getting rid of the old to make room for the new. He starts by donating a bunch of things to charity, only to see one of the blankets he’s donated wrapped around someone sleeping in the street a couple of days later. He can’t know that, when he approaches the cocoon lying on the sidewalk that first time, but giving away his old blanket has started a sequence of events that will bring into his life all the new he could hope for, starting with the man sleeping under it.
Castiel's lost everything. He’s homeless, living in the street and determined to keep going until he won’t be able to go on any longer. And then, he’ll see. For now, he finds solace in the little things, desperate for any scrap of hope that might come his way. Like the blanket he got from the shelter, with the ugliest dog face that ever existed, complete with flapping ears, that has made him smile for the first time in weeks. He couldn't have possibly known, when he chose that particular blanket out of those available, that that choice had started a sequence of events that will bring into his life all the hope he was looking for, starting with the man who sewed and donated it.

And when Castiel came home from work early to find his fiance sleeping with his brother, it was Dean he ran to, Dean, who welcomed him with open arms, and Dean who gave him a fresh start.
It’s two years later when the wedding invitation shows up in the mail and Castiel decides he needs to go; if only to show that he was not broken. And he won’t have to do it alone, not when he has Dean by his side.

And since they’re both bored and neither of them are in a relationship (because they don't do relationships), why not try to get out of their ruts by having roleplay sex with each other? Sure it’s a little different, a little wild, but that’s the point. They both need something completely out of their comfort zones to break them out of the humdrum of hookups and the bar scene, and they trust each other enough to commit wholly to the process. When they’ve scratched the itch, they’ll go back to their usual ways.
But the more they take on new roles, the more they shed old ones, leading them to evaluate who they really are, who they want to be, and who they want to be with.

Summary
There was a photo on the wall that Cas Novak loved looking at when he was little, a love that turned to embarrassed complaining about its presence once he was of the age when everything, even an innocent kiss, was the most humiliating thing ever.
The photo was beloved by his mother, Naomi, and the kiss recipient's mother, Mary. The best friends cooed over it every Christmas Eve, when the families got together to celebrate the holiday and the night they met.
Even at twenty-five, the kiss was embarrassing, but not because it was “unmasculine” or because it was a cutesy toddler thing. No, it was because the affection behind the sweet smooch Castiel gave his best friend, Dean Winchester, had grown into much, much more.
Their families, spearheaded by Castiel's brothers, wanted them to recreate that kiss, thinking it was the only one they'd ever had. But that wasn't quite correct.
