Summary
Iain Howell comes from a family of mediums and has never personally spoken to a ghost. Cyrus Merrick is an artist, and he's only at this party because it came with a paycheck. He's going to regret accepting the invitation as much as Iain will regret not studying the finer points of spirit channeling.
Just because you're dead doesn't mean you have to be gone. Especially when there's a murderer to pin down and the only person who can see you is someone you wish you'd met earlier.

Summary
Gyre knows just how far she can push her suit. It's what's keeping her alive. In the sump between Camp Five and Camp Six, instead of rushing out to fall short of the cache, she drops the line. She knows how far she can push her suit and this is too much.
Except it's not really the suit keeping her alive. It's Em. It's always been Em. And there's always been secrets. What's a few more, if it means Gyre lives?
At least, for now.

"It'll be a quick trip," Maud said, more to herself than to Arland. "No one will even notice we're gone."
Pirates are plaguing an ally, just outside of vampire space. Maud and Arland don some aesthetically beat-up armor and try to get more information from the pirates themselves. Of course, plans only last until you meet your enemy. Or your enemy's giant alien attack boar.

Summary
Crawly gave Aziraphale a look. "You're lucky that I recognized you. Do you know what demons are supposed to do when they encounter an angel in the field?"
"Do enlighten me," Aziraphale said, smiling and briefly letting his eyes rest on Crawly's mouth.
Immortality applies to the soul, not the body. At least when it comes to angels and demons: Crowley and Aziraphale go through their fair share of corporations throughout the years. It's slightly different every time.

Summary
Crowley is very invested in this year's costume, which in his defense is only half as scary as it could've been. Also in his defense (not that Crowley is happy about it), the local trick-or-treaters are not as scared of a snake monster person as you might expect.

The shrug Rogan gave was expansive. He did not bother to hide his grin. "I don't know. She might think it was hot."
Breaking into a suspect's office during a party would have gone smoothly, if Augustine hadn't slightly miscalculated. Quickly disguising himself as Nevada should also have gone smoothly, if Rogan hadn't decided to tease Augustine about it.

Summary
Work leads Crowley into a prison cell, but he plans to bribe his way out and count tarnishing the guard's soul for extra credit. Aziraphale's unexpected company is just the icing on the cake.* It's not like Culloden, but it's close.
*It is not also the file inside the cake, both because you can't actually use a file to break through iron bars and because Aziraphale knows Crowley is perfectly capable of freeing himself from prison, given due time.

"I was going to go to bed with a book," Aziraphale mused, smiling now, "but I suppose you'll do just as nicely."
"Will I?"
"You usually do."
"Usually," Crowley muttered.
It took Crowley a year to get a new body - please, don't ask why he needed one - and now that he's made it back to Earth, he sees no reason not to find a fun way to break it in. It's a lucky devil to have such an indulgent angel to call on.

I DON'T THINK IT SAW YOU, says the silent message Em sends Gyre in Camp Four. But Em is wrong. And Gyre was right - she's not crazy. She's never been alone. If not this thing chasing her, then the cave.
The cave kept Eli. It didn't keep him well. It wants to keep Gyre, too.

"The lining of the suit can shift to provide various stimulation. There's also a vibration function." Em fidgeted again, squirming in her chair, as Gyre started to laugh. Em said, clipped, "The suit is designed to provide a range of experiences."

Summary
"If they come back to sell me off for my pelt, I'm going to disembowel somebody," Ascanio declared to nobody.
"You should've tried disemboweling somebody before you got captured," nobody declared back, from the other side of the still-shut door.
Ascanio was just minding his own business. He really didn't ask to be jumped by four attackers and a mage. He definitely didn't ask to wake up in a silver cage in the middle of nowhere. And he absolutely did not ask to be rescued by Derek, but he's not in much of a position to argue about that.

Summary
"That is coffee," Augustine said, yanking his cup into the air before he had fully registered what it was sniffing at his hand.
Some part of his brain must have understood it was Zeus, though, because it wasn't a surprise to look down and see a large blue face at his hip. Zeus's whiskers twitched. Augustine switched his coffee to his other hand.
It can be difficult to find time in a busy schedule to actually go on a date, no matter how exciting the idea of going on a date is. Luckily, it's a magical world. That includes semi-cryptic and overly personal predictions when what you were hoping for was guidance on corporate espionage, and a blue tiger-hound pestering you for treats in public. It could happen to the best of us.

Setting your alarm for July is all well and good, but Crowley would have been better off with a real alarm clock. Even a demon can't get around a dead battery.

Aziraphale put his hands on his hips. "We agreed," he said. "We are going to incubate this egg the angelic way."

Summary
Aziraphale says, "There's no shame in admitting defeat, my dear boy. Perhaps it simply isn't the right time."
To start the apocalypse, Crowley needs to make a virgin sacrifice - that is, he needs to make a virgin climax. Heaven has designated the Principality Aziraphale for the task. Crowley had been looking forward to it, but it turns out Aziraphale is relentlessly stubborn.

She'd been hoping for valuable data - but she'll take a gold statue and the goddess that comes along with it. Or she'll try, anyway. Sometimes deep space isn't so empty. Sometimes all you can do is pray.

"Where are you being sent next, angel?" Crawly asks, his voice low and as dark as the skin of the apple.
Eden is empty, but Crawly hasn't gotten his marching orders yet. He doesn't have anywhere to be. Aziraphale can't say the same, but Crawly's already proved he's very good at temptation.

Summary
"I know that's rude in 'snake,'" Aziraphale grumbles. "You are fortunate that I am so kind-hearted as to offer you shelter. You have your own wings."
In the beginning, there's a dark and stormy night. There's also an angel and a smoky-voiced demon who have to weather it out. Why not together?
