Summary
Love, love, love. It makes space for itself, even when he has none left to give. Crushing the delicate fibers of his heart and spilling out into his ribs, seeping through the cracks in his skin.
Where did it all go wrong?

Summary
He wonders if others can see it. Can they see the maggots feasting on his flesh, the peeling skin on his palms, his teeth yellowing in his mouth? Grief has no physical form. It can’t. Grief is the absence, the feeling that somebody who should be here isn't.
And whose fault is that?
It cannot be hers. It can never be hers.

Klavier and Ema commiserate over shared experiences
-
His eyes flickered away from her, and something clicked for Ema. “Oh. You… You went to visit Kristoph.”
His smile hardened into plastic. “What makes you think that?”
“I’m not stupid, Gavin,” she crossed her arms, “Who else would you be visiting right now? Maybe Daryan, but I don't think a conversation with him would leave you staring like you’ve seen a ghost.”
He faltered, “I–,” before sighing, the mask fully sliding off. “Yes. I visited Kristoph. Now that you’ve satisfied your curiosity, Fräulein, would you kindly move along?”
She wanted to do that, truly she did… but the look in his eyes was all too familiar. She’d seen that hurt, betrayal, and disillusionment plain on her own face in the mirror nine years ago. “You know what, Gavin?” she cursed herself for saying it, even as she spoke, “Let’s go get a drink.”

Summary
"Why did you do it?"
Kristoph gave the man on the opposite side of the glass an inauthentic—albeit well-practiced—smile. His visitor was exactly who he expected it to be.
"Unfortunately, your question could apply to a variety of unlucky circumstances I’ve experienced throughout my life. I’m afraid you’ll have to be far more specific than that.”
****
Mental illness is often said to be hereditary. Luckily, Kristoph Gavin learned from an early age that the concept of family is meaningless.
Childhood fic centered on Kristoph and Klavier.
