Jayce pulls him up till he’s sitting, bringing him to his chest and holding him closer. It seems cruel to think of separating, even by an inch. “I love you,” he says, because it’s true. Because Viktor needs to know. Because the words have been trying to burst from his throat since the minute they woke up. “I should’ve told you before we- I mean. I should’ve said. I didn’t want to die without you knowing. I don’t know why I didn’t. I love you. I’ve loved you.”
Viktor lets out a choked gasp from where his head is buried in the crook between Jayce’s neck and shoulder. “What?”

They say physical contact with human beings is important for their physical and mental well-being, through various forms such as hugs, kisses, handshakes, and general proximity to one another. It doesn’t help us survive, per se, but it keeps us alive nonetheless.
Or; It had been so long since Jayce had been touched, he doesn't mind that it was Viktor doing the touching. His timing could be better, however.
