But it seemed no matter how often Alhaitham explicitly stated this, Kaveh would brush it off. It was a dance they had done for years, and Alhaitham didn’t make any more effort to make Kaveh understand he was serious. Kaveh wouldn’t believe him, or he would choose not to. It wouldn’t change anything if Kaveh believed it. Alhaitham would still be going through the motions of getting him to sleep in his bed on nights like this. They would still be having the same arguments. This was just another thing that had become a fact for Alhaitham about his life. Alhaitham cared about Kaveh. He would continue to care about him and for him, and Kaveh would continue to dismiss it. This was a fact that Alhaitham had learned to accept, ignoring the annoying twinge of pain that came with it.
