The host looks smug. “Listen to our wise, honourable client, one of the Turks from the Shinra Electrical Company, enjoying us tonight.” Tifa's eyes widen at his words. “Make her time at our divine Honeybee Inn worthwhile,” he says, and pats Tifa on the shoulder. “Room 39.”
He presses the key into Tifa's hand.
Tifa is quiet for a long moment before her fingers slowly close over it. She lifts her head to look at Elena again, mouth thinning.
“My attitude won't improve,” she says. “I'm in a bad mood today, and I'm normally unpleasant. I won't simper and coo for you. You still want to hire me?”
Elena flicks her hair out of her face and smirks. “What do you think?”
Tifa considers her for a moment. “Make it triple, and I'll be your girl for tonight.”
The Turks get an all-expenses paid-for trip to the Honeybee Inn.
Elena isn't interested in hiring anyone for the night.
Until she is.

On the Planet of his birth, Cloud had destroyed Sephiroth years ago. The reactors are long cold, the world is saved, and he and Tifa keep their little family in remembrance of the dead.
In this new dimension, it's like the apocalypse Cloud remembers was half-averted. Mako's still around, ShinRa's in business, and Tifa supposedly died years ago under Cloud's JENOVA-fueled rampage. The other problem? Everyone's alive, looking for answers, and this dimension is a little more different than it seems.
It's hard, taking out reactors while being hunted across the continent by the people who are apparently your soulmates. It's hard, and no one understands.

probably my favourite FF7 fic ever <3 AGSZC, platonic/good friends cloud & tifa, a sense of mystery regarding calamity cloud, and action that never stops!! whew!! hilarious, funny, well-written, light at parts and dark at others, an older cloud and tifa (and i can not reiterate enough how in love i am with the tifa of this fic). amazing world building, fleshed-out side characters; barret, tifa, & cloud avalanche friendship. just the way the concept of packmates (i.e. soulmates) is handled in this world makes me want to gnaw on it like a dog with a favourite chew-toy. the dream sequences. WOW. yum. kudos kudos kudos !!
