This work is inspired by “I’m Not Alone” by Whymsicalwyvern, which is an INCREDIBLE palegun fanfiction and I just had to write this.
— — —The homeowner moved the cake to the table and disappeared down the hall before returning with two dark green, slender dinner table setting candles in one hand. “I don’t have any normal birthday candles, but I did find these in the closet yesterday. You can have the taller one and I’ll have the… less tall one. Go ahead, take a seat.”
“What do we need candles for?” the visitor asked, moving the chair underneath him.
“Well, you light them and then blow them out to make a wish. You know… I’m always surprised by what your memory chooses to hold onto or throw away,” he chuckled.
He ignored the slight verbal jab. “What do people usually wish for?”
“I don’t know. Money, health, love?” He rolled his eyes. “It’s just a childish tradition, you don’t have to overthink it. Just close your eyes and wish for the first thing that pops into your head.”Bookmarked by austn_iny

Summary
Schlatt was tough on the outside, with sharp edges and clean-cut features that were undeniably a pinnacle of his intimidating look. He was sure of himself and cocky, two traits that made him the man he is now. Over time, he had grown a thick skin; there wasn't much that could shake him anymore. He wasn’t exactly a very empathetic person; he typically came off as pretty apathetic, if anything, and the average person usually perceives him as cold and antisocial. He wasn’t a monster; he liked SOME people, he was purely selective of who he kept around, any smart person would be. It's not like he actually CARES about these people or anything, it's just logical he keeps at least a FEW people around so he doesn't go crazy.

“Where are you going, man? I thought I told you to stay right here?” Quackity grinned, and it was the same smile from before, relaxed and gentle. Schlatt’s mood changed in an instant, ruining whatever credibility he’d been trying to hold up in front of Ash.
“Was just looking for you.” Schlatt pushed forward guiding Quackity backwards with him as he stepped further away from the table and Ash’s prying gaze, “Whatcha got there?” He asked, looking pointedly at the bottle in Quackity’s hands.

Schlatt sat down beside him quickly, jostling Quackity as he spoke, “Christ, if I start touching your wings again, will you shut up?”
“Mayb—“ Quackity couldn’t even finish the word as Schlatt’s fingers dove back between his feathers, resuming his careful motions like nothing had happened. Quackity shivered at the feeling before he let himself relax into it, shoulders slumping and a small hum rumbling in the back of his throat.

"Katie had the grand idea to host a-“ A high-pitched hiccup interrupted his explanation, and Schlatt briefly clamped his mouth shut in shock. He shot Quackity a glare as he tried unsuccessfully to hold back a laugh, pausing a moment before he continued, “She uh, wanted to throw some stupid party. Ended up wrecking my house. Now I’m here. End of story.”
Or: Schlatt shows up to Quackity's door drunk, and they're both forced to confront some things.
