Thursday, a copper in a world with little crime and limited resources to spend on policing, is approached by a man who claims he can help him. The only catch is that he's trapped in the Dreamscape himself.

“I don’t believe in ghosts,” Hawkeye said. “Or demons, or poltergeists, or souls, or anything. The problem being, however, that my disbelief doesn’t seem to be fazing this ghost one iota.”
Ben grimaced apologetically.

Or: Hawkeye finds out what it really means to be haunted by the past.

Technically unfinished which is ofc a pity, but it definitely works as as-is imo; this fic lets really you sit with Charles's grief and anger without going overboard, and his voice is spot-on.

Not many authors can write emotional denial/repression in an intelligent way, but this one absolutely nailed it. and, my god, the sheer romance by the end.

Bookmarker's Notes
Merlyn turned Arthur into different animals to teach him lessons, and for a while, Erik had thought that that’s what life had done to him. Son, experiment, husband, father, hunter, discoverer, villain, prisoner, crusader. Each form given and torn away, but he was never Arthur, and his changes didn’t lead him to legend. Just landed him here, now, where the last thing he’s going to feel are the restraints, the hard chair at his back, and Charles.

Summary
Nacho thinks about the peasants somewhere at the crest of South America; smiling peasant families digging their hands into the dirt, planting coca plants in little green rows. Planting and toiling under the gunfire and smoke, so that some distant gringo lawyer can snort his second wind off a bathroom sink; so a college kid can get a better lay. So that he can sit here, in his big house, having dinner with his asshole boss, and feel like shit.

“You can make a fight out of anything,” Bucky says, and affects a laugh, badly. “You can make a metaphor a fight. What the hell do anesthetics have to do with anything?”
Steve almost blurts out, Art is an anesthetic! But at the last second, he gets a hold of himself.

a perfectly absurdist snapshot of the two of them right before bucky leaves for the army: hilarious, tragic, transcendent.

Summary
Stranded on the planet Sigma Nox while searching for a missing away team, Spock and Kirk find themselves pitted against a disturbing native life form. With the captain out of commission on a regular basis and Spock struggling to preserve his stoicism, staying alive is difficult enough – but when a slim chance for escape surfaces, their resolve is truly put to the test. Together they must fight for survival in the heart of an alien jungle, and in the process, uncover the mystery of the planet’s past. Slow build K/S.
Written for the 2011 Star Trek Big Bang on Livejournal - look for links to the mix and art there!
Warnings: Minor character death. Mind control themes and sort-of-zombies. Dark at times due to twisted xenobiological shenanigans. Mild themes of stress-related weight loss. Heaps of TOS references and/or spoilers. Eventual smut. Freakishly long chapters.

Summary
This is several stories, not just the story of Jim & Bones' epic romance.
Jim's story. "Most would think defeating the Narada was my greatest triumph, but those closest to me know the truth. The Narada was a distant third. My last Kobayashi Maru comes in second-- and not for the reasons you'd think. The first, well..."
Chris's story. "I reached a certain age and thought I knew exactly who I was and what I wanted out of life. Then I walked into an Iowa bar and realized I wasn't the person I thought I knew. Not even close..."
Leonard's story. "You know that story? the one where Pike meets Kirk and there's mentoring and bonding and they tiptoe through the tulips into happily ever? Well, this ain't it. Dipshit."

Summary
Some little scene sketches from early in Marty and Rust's partnership, and parts of the 1995 investigation. Not in chronological order.
In Louisiana Rust creates his own structure. His work is necessary and not overtly cruel to the larger human organism of which he is a part. He is entitled to the things that allow him to do the work: mattress, cigarettes, books, shoes.
He is not entitled to Marty but has ended up with him anyway. This will backfire.

Summary
At North Shore they called it repetition compulsion: the desire to throw himself into a ravine because at least he recognized the landscape. They warned him that he would do this again, and again, and again if he wasn’t careful. “It’s like you’re always bracing for a fight,” Laurie said once, “and if it doesn’t happen, you create one.” Sophia’s blood on the driveway, Marty’s blood in the parking lot, Psyche with her goddamn lamp, poking at a good thing until it’s scorched and screaming. There’s only one story, the oldest: “You climb a tree too high for you,” his pop said, as he passed Rust a bottle of whiskey and began to splint his arm, “you best be prepared to fall and get hurt.”

Summary
By the time Rust met Marty, he hadn’t said his own name in ten months.
Longer than that since anyone had called him Rust. Morales, always precise, called him Cohle, or sometimes Officer Cohle, like Rust needed a reminder of which side of the line he was on: Rust had appreciated that. To everyone since Morales he had only been Crash.
Only two people had ever called him Rust. He didn’t like how easily Marty slipped into the number three spot, like it was waiting for him.
