Jack stared at himself in the mirror. He wore a pair of black dress pants and no shirt. The button-up be had picked out reflected back at him from its place on the bed. He flexed his right arm, his bicep bulging. The tattoo that was inked there moved subtly with the motion. He grimaced and averted his eyes.
When he first got the tattoo, all he would do was flex in the mirror and admire it. He wore sleeveless shirts and tank tops for months after it had healed. Jack told every person that would listen about what it meant. Now, it filled his gut with disgust.

Summary
He’s seen Geno after they’ve lost before. There’s always a period of adjustment, a time of struggle to accept that the season really is over, that they’ve lost, there’ll be no Cup for them that year. It hurts, and it’s hard to accept, and doing it alone is even harder. For Geno, in Russia, none of his actual team around him, it has to be exponentially more difficult.
But he’s never seen Geno look like this, his normally hangdog features settled into downright misery.
At least he’s home, Sid thinks, but he can’t comfort himself with the thought.

"Yeah," Sid choked out. Geno leaned forward and soothed a big hand over Sid's hair, his lips twisting at the corners. His eyes were painkiller bright, glazed over enough that they looked like marbles. He left his hand on Sid's head as his eyes slid shut. Sid sat still as Geno dozed and counted his breaths.

“You don’t know what you’re in for,” EJ says, strapping himself in and wiggling back and forth on the bike seat to get himself comfortable. And Gabe believes him - he knows his best friend well enough to be certain that EJ has an ulterior motive for getting him to a six am spin class. Still: something drops in his stomach when EJ’s eyes cut past him to the doorway of the classroom, and immediately his mouth twists into a knowing smirk. “But go ahead and take a look.”
He can’t help it; Gabe turns in his seat so that he can see the entrance to the spin room. The instructor is walking in, waving hello to the attendees he recognizes and heading for the bike at the front of the room, the one leading the peloton and the closest to the mirrors. The man sheds his hoodie, and drops the gym bag he’s carrying at the foot of the front bike.
Gabe’s jaw nearly drops, too.
EJ knows that Gabe has a type. He was prepared for a lot of things, knowing how EJ’s scheming usually goes, but he was definitely not prepared for this.

“Everything you do will need to be approved by him,” Sergei tells him. “You’re going to get mad and then we’ll have a diplomatic crisis.”
Zhenya doesn’t know what the big deal is. He’s decorating the palace for before their annual Christmas party, not forming laws or arguing policies.
“I’m sure I’ll be fine,” he tells Sergei. “I was hired by the King and Queen, not the Prince. Why would I even see him?”
Sergei hums into the phone. “I’ll keep you in my thoughts,” he says and hangs up, leaving Zhenya completely bewildered at Halifax International.
