Finally Steve settled on pulling the thin mattress off the bunk and to the floor. He moved Clint onto it as carefully as he could and laid down beside him. A few minutes later Steve gave up pretending that he was not terrified and pulled Clint bonelessly into his arms, rocking him a little and wishing for better days.

Natasha froze. For a split second it seemed like the ice was hesitating, like it hadn’t made up its mind whether to hold or break. Then it gave another a wet crunch, and with a desperate sound Clint heaved himself towards her as it disintegrated under him. But he was too far away, and his fingertips scrabbled uselessly against hers. Then he was in the water again. Under the surface again. And this time he didn’t resurface.
OR
Natasha is of the opinion that one should try to avoid falling through the ice. Especially when the ambient temperature has plummeted well below freezing. And there's nowhere around to get warm and dry. And the water turns into a whitewater rapid a stone’s throw downstream. It's just common sense.
In Clint's defense, he was dodging a bullet.

I hate this because of how it ends, but also love it because at least it ends with them together.
He smiles back. He smiles, even though he knows she means waiting with him until he passes out, or passes entirely, because he isn’t going to survive to open his eyes again if he lets them close. She is grateful he hasn’t realized she will be closing her eyes too. She only needs to outlast him. She can do that.

She rolls her eyes, believing completely that everyone was overreacting, but she owes him that much, at the very least. “Fine.” She admits. “But the minute Steve starts lecturing us about our communication skills, my painkillers will kick in and I’ll probably pass out.”

This isn't long, but it's one of my all time favorites that I always lose track of on Tumblr, so adding here to find it easier. Every paragraph packs a punch. Natasha realizes that she loves Clint, for his weakness, not in spite of it, and that maybe it actually isn't a weakness at all.
Of course he is not less, because this is so much more. He has words on his skin and in his eyes where other men can barely speak with their mouths

A gunshot shatters the window and before he can even think about what’s going on she’s pinning him to the ground, her own body shielding his from the glass and gunfire. She stays on top of him long after the gunshots end and he wonders if she’s waiting for more gunfire or if she can’t move because she’s been shot. When he pushes her off of him and sees the blood, he realizes it’s the latter.
“Asshole missed my heart,” she says weakly, coughing up blood.
“We need to go.”Or, the one where Clint is supposed to kill her and decides not to and then everything goes to hell until it doesn't.

Clint looks up at him then, his eyes hollow and fever bright. "You don't get to ask me that," he says, his voice rough, as though he's been coughing nonstop. Or screaming. "I got them. You don't get to ask me how."

She nods. She knows they're there. She knew they would come for her and Clint, trusting them to help out now is nothing. Sometimes, when she reflects on these facts, it's terrifying, how intertwined she's allowed herself to become. Most of the time, it makes her feel stronger than she ever has before.
Clint's free hand pats around blindly until she sidles in closer to him. She says, "Right here."
