As she watches his face change -- a barely visible wave of surprise, shock, acceptance, and fear all rolled into one and gone from his features so quickly, she thinks she might have imagined it -- she realizes that this is why they are what they are. In any other situation, with anyone else on her team and even with anyone else in her family, she doesn’t know if she could have been this candid. She doesn’t know if she could have been this forward. She doesn’t know if she could have said what she’d needed to say, not without having to explain herself or feeling guilty.
But with Clint, with the years of trust and forgiveness and betrayal and secrets spread between them, she could open herself up in the rawest way and know that he wouldn’t even blink.
He would care, though.

An amazing piece of work. The Avengers have taken Loki into their fold and are now working together against a larger threat and to figure out what on earth is going on with the connection between Loki & Clint and what's happened to Thor. Everything has incredible depth - the characters, the emotions, the dialogue.
So the conversation between Nat and Clint in chapter 5 is one of my all time favorite scenes from a fic. The fact that they're having such a vulnerable discussion, in the half light while sharing a bunk bed and surrounded by the entire team, but because it's in ASL they still have privacy, is just a whole new level of intimacy and brings on ALL THE FEELS 🤯🤯🤯
