Summary
The night Tommy disappeared, it went like this:
Tubbo screamed the words that became his goodbye. He can’t accept that Tommy is gone, because that would be accepting that the last words they exchanged were angry and intended to hurt. So he doesn’t accept it. He’ll search for years if he has to.
Techno let Tommy leave without so much as trying to stop him. He’s replayed the memory of that night and wished he’d done anything else, until he thinks the guilt might be enough to destroy him. He thinks he might already be on his way there.
And Quackity can’t help but feel like this is all just a bitter echo. This town is cursed, and Tommy is only its latest victim.

Wilbur wakes up feeling terrible, and for once he knows it’s not just the general close dampness of Pogtopia. Or sleep deprivation. Or the consequences of smoking that he’s sure will catch up to him soon. Or really, any number of pieces of the casual hellscape of his life. This time, he’s pretty sure he’s sick.
And not even the “dying” kind of sick, which is frankly the worst part.

“That’s the dumbest fucking thing I’ve ever heard,” Tommy says, fiercely, not missing a beat. There is an echo, somewhere in his words. An echo of an anthem, of a declaration, of the birth of an infant nation. “You sound like a real pussy, Wilbur. A real fucking coward.”
Wilbur bristles. “Tommy —”
“Of course I know you’ve done bad shit, Wilbur,” Tommy interrupts, before Wilbur can say anything. “I’m not a fucking idiot. Did you ever think that I might want to stay with you anyway?”

Wilbur pivots a half-step to the side, twisting his shoulders away from Tommy, looking out over the pond, the ducks in the water with their fluffed-up feathers, the pigeons slowly fluttering down to the pavement and strutting around his feet like old friends. For an absurd moment, Tommy wonders if the birds know his brother better than he does.
“Yeah, well,” Wilbur says stiffly, voice straining for nonchalance and falling dramatically short, “I lied.”

Wilbur gnawed on his lip for a moment before he answered Tommy, arms up on the wood and eyes drifted out. Even with a sure voice, a sure answer of “he’s passing through and he needs a place for the night”, Tubbo could see something off.
He could see how Wilbur’s brow was furrowed, the dark bags under his eyes more pronounced, and the decades upon decades of lines on his old face—seriously, he was, like, thirty, who even lived that long?—and how they almost looked cut deeper into him than usual. It was clear as day to Tubbo, Wilbur was nervous about something. About this.
If it weren’t for the fact that Tommy knew Schlatt, Tubbo might have been a bit more concerned himself.Or
