“Okay, and?”
That made TommyInnit hesitate — he had known the boy before him for many years, now. They grew up together, fought together, laughed together, built together, and cried together. Time and time again they were separated, time and time again they were upset or hurt by each other. Even then, never, not even for a second, Tommy thought he’d hear words like these, with the implications they held to them. Tubbo was supposed to know how much Tommy cared about him, there weren’t supposed to be any ands. When he spoke, his voice was much softer than before.
“And I would’ve lost you, Tubbo.”
“Okay, and?” He repeated, and Tommy could hear the crackling of static in his ears.

Three, his son is safe.
Four, Dream is in prison.
Five, Technoblade decided Snowchester isn’t enough of a government to be blown up.
Six, Wilbur was revived a hell of a lot more reasonable than anyone thought and decided to fuck off into the woods rather than kill anyone.
Seven, Tubbo has nukes, so if reasons four, five, and six turn out to be untrue, Tubbo can fix that real quick.

Summary
The worst part about seeing your best friend again for the first time in months is that he's taller now.
Maybe it's just the shoes, maybe it's that Tommy's posture has gone to shit since his exile, or maybe it's just actually been a long time and Tubbo has grown a little taller but it is weird and not right and Tommy hates it.
The President's uniform fits him better than it ever did. Tommy's clothes have all gotten too loose.
