“Don’t go.”
With no other choice, Amphoreus’ deliverer is reduced to nothing but a beggar. In his mind, he pleads to the Titans— to anyone or anything that’s listening. He begs Oronyx for a single shred of sympathy. Phainon prays to Kephale for a sliver of mercy, just this once. Strife is far from what Phainon is familiar with, yet he begs Nikador to look upon Mydeimos’ endless valor and grant him a gentle ending.
To Thanatos himself, he prays that if this journey to death must be taken, then let the currents of the River of Souls be kind and gentle to Mydeimos and carry him to eternal rest.
Let his final death be peaceful, at least.
Mydei dies by Khaslana's hands, and Phainon is left to grieve.
Or, the cycle where the Library of Garbaniphoro fell to flame, and the events that preceded it.

amazing fic, i adore the gentleness
the only gripe i have is phainon's motivation to keep going, which is implied to be largely due to mydei. imo its much more than that.
but it is only one sentence; it is still a pretty good read and phainon's/khaslana's characterization is pretty on point. the dialogue flows well too.

A small chime of sweet, gentle laughter, contrasted so very sharply by the filthy way Argenti leans in real close to his ear and says: “Show me how you want to be touched, dearest ranger.”
So, Boothill got tangled up with Argenti once in the decorated halls of Penacony's hotel. So, afterward, Argenti had reached out with an invitation to his own personal ship, the One and Only. It means nothing—and it never will, not even as Boothill steps foot onto what is looking to be the ride of his life.

The truth of the matter is, Kaveh has no idea how to read Alhaitham. He prides himself on being an expert at understanding people, his empathetic heart lending him the capacity to relate deeply with those around him (oftentimes to his detriment). But with Alhaitham, there is nothing for him to read; no clues from his cool expression for him to grasp. The man appears stoic all the time even during their petty bickering.
Honestly, when was the last time Kaveh has seen the man do anything except smirk or frown? Does Alhaitham feel happiness? Has he ever seen the man laugh?
Kaveh's mind is drawing a blank on the latter and it...bothers him deeply.

Kaveh devises a plan to get Alhaitham to smile by being aggressively nice to the man (and also maybe if he makes Alhaitham happy, he can score a discount on his rent or something). Alhaitham thinks Kaveh ate some mind-altering mushrooms and is, understandably, confused and mildly afraid.Series
