“Agatha.” She whispered, pulling the collar of the woman’s shirt towards her face with a balled fist. “Something is happening to me.”
Agatha smirked, meeting Rio’s gaze with an amused expression. “Something happening as in, do you feel like the drink is starting to hit?”
“I don’t know. How would I know? What is this?” Rio rambled as she released the shirt, leaning herself backwards with her hands resting on the end of the tabletop. Her eyeballs had a look of ferality to them, a glimmer of chaos and energy lurking beneath them as she felt the heavily distilled drink course through her veins with a tangible vibration.
AKA: Agatha has tried several different ways to get Death drunk, and she ends up finally finding a way for it to work and Rio gets to learn firsthand how this human concept works.

“A gift?” She repeated, stepping forward. The dead witch’s protests were easily ignored now; Death’s only focus was Agatha. Agatha, smiling at her brightly, eyes as bright and wild as her hair.
“A gift. For you,” Agatha revealed, taking her own step forward. Her lips trembled slightly, maybe from the cold or maybe from her nerves, Death does not know. But what she does know is Agatha just killed someone for her.
“Me?” Death breathed out, eyes wide and completely hypnotised by the beautiful gesture done for her.
Agatha attempted to step even closer but realised this was as close as she could get. The tip of her nose was just inches away from Death’s, the proximity immediately causing a shiver to run up her spine. “For you…my love,” she breathed out in confession, eager for Death’s reaction.

Everything about Agatha is fascinating—and it really shouldn’t be, considering the fact that Death has borne witness to countless lives across time from beginning to end. But there’s something rich and raw in the way that Agatha moves through the world, a heady, almost carnal enjoyment filling every indulgent aspect of life that she chooses to engage in. Even in the most mundane moments, Agatha’s enthralling.
Death can’t look away from her.
Agatha sits at a tavern and slyly flirts with the innkeeper’s daughter over a tankard of ale and a plate of carrot and potato stew—Death is a literal fly on the fucking wall.
Agatha lures a witch—or two, or three—off into the woods and goads them into attacking her? Death arrives early to watch the show.
Agatha goes to bathe in a nearby river, dark hair loosed from its typical braid, body glistening wetly, showcasing every minute movement of muscle beneath her soft, supple skin—well.
All of a sudden, Death is fixated on the day-to-day details of mortal existence.
Agatha, Agatha, Agatha.
If Death had a heart, it would probably beat itself in the triplicate rhythm of her name.

“You keep my flowers,” Rio turns the journal. It overflows with pressed flora, the name of each specimen marked in Agatha’s lettering. A collection of lilies and violets, even the modest dandelion, carefully arranged over the wheaten pages. “I didn’t know,” her voice softens into a whisper.
“What a terrible lover I’d be, tossing away a maiden’s gifts,” Agatha croons and curls a strand of wild hair around her finger. She’s never as fond of her name as the moment it falls from Rio’s tongue.
“Your lovers end up in coffins, Agatha,”
“Curious,” she points at Death, “Did you know I’ve been dreaming of the pretty grave your bones would make?”
Death laughs at that and Agatha’s face is warmed by a grin. Rio leans over her like a shadow looming and Agatha purses her lips, but instead of getting a kiss, a finger taps her nose.
“I mourn the day a knife cuts your tongue, my witch,” Death murmurs to her.
