Summary
“Call a therapist”. The precision of the cut Yolanda absolutely meant to make but surely didn’t aim for such depth – was another thing to think right after the memory of Langdon’s voice daring to utter; “I’d be happy to teach Dr. Santos” and Yolanda not even blinking when –
Picking up the phone and saying, “No”, when Yolanda asked to swing by for the evening; was the easiest thing Trinity had done all week.
But following up with, “I think we’re done”, had choked the oxygen out.
She didn’t catch the flutter of Yolanda’s breathing; too busy trying to fight her way out the window to sit on the hot metal of the fire escape and try to suck in a clear inhale. She did catch the precise delivery of a “cool, thanks for the heads up”, before Yolanda hanged up the phone.

The Forth of July had been nothing more than a bad shift; but the span of the days after it, created a pocket of time.
A pocket of time for Santos to remember even when the memory of the shift on the Forth faded. Whitaker moving out, Javadi moving in, Al-Hashimi taking a leap. Garcia asking to stay.

Summary
Four blocks. They had made it four blocks from PTMC before the collision.
Which meant Trinity and Dennis had been away from the hospital for all of forty-five minutes before being rushed back in on stretchers.
“I told you, I’m fine,” she scowled as Dana guided the EMTs toward Central 6. “You’re not even supposed to be here!”
Or: Trinity and Dennis are just trying to make it home, a poorly timed bus accident sends them right back to the Pitt. Luckily they have people (and morphine) to help with their predicament.

Summary
After accepting a job at PTMC, Baran Al-Hashimi feels an oddly familiar connection with one of her residents. But the more she gets to know Trinity, the more she learns that Trinity won’t let anyone in, because Trinity has a habit of being undeterrable, and hiding behind sarcasm, and pushing people away when they get too close.
Which is fine with her, because Baran is determined to push back.

The unstoppable force of Baran Al-Hashimi meets the immovable object of Trinity Santos.

Lady Al-Hashimi glances down at Trinity, then back up to Augusta. “Did Trinity not inform you?”
“Inform me of… what?”
Lady Al-Hashimi laughs, soft and sweet.
“That she is my wife, of course.”

Baran’s husband dies – and subsequently leaves her, and their two year old son to deal with the aftermath.
Enter Trinity Santos, who’s long resigned to living the life of a spinster. That is, until her mother decides that a married rake of a daughter would at the very least be better, than an unmarried rake of a daughter.
(Cue, a fake marriage plot).
(or, alternatively: trinity needs a wife, baran needs a distraction, and i wrapped all of their issues up nicely into a regency au).

Her phone buzzes in her hand, reminding her of its existence. She looks down and flinches slightly.
Oh.
Not only is it four in the morning, but also, that’s who she has to call. Her lockscreen wallpaper changes every time she turns off her phone, but, and she won’t admit it even at gunpoint, most of the chosen pictures have the same person in them. Her person, to be exact.
Or, Trinity wakes up disoriented from a nightmare and calls Dennis mid-night shift. He runs to her.

Baran cocked her head marginally. Her gaze bounced across Santos’ face, the shadow of a smile playing at her lips, trying to read what she saw on there. She could never quite understand which side of the line between sincerity and sarcasm Santos was on at any given time, and had made a small game of trying to work out which. For example here, the slightly raised left eyebrow along with the dry tone was enough to lead to the conclusion that this interaction was not entirely free of scorn. Baran decided she could live with that.
