Akira didn’t exactly know what to make of the so-called Detective Prince. It wasn’t like he’d really seen him in anything before meeting the guy - just a few minutes here and there on the TV in Leblanc, between grinding beans and mopping the floor. And it wasn’t like those were particularly revealing - Akira hadn’t spent so long in court and with lawyers to not recognise pre-prepared scripts when he heard them.
Why the Velvet Room wanted (or maybe needed ) him to spend time with Akechi, Akira wasn’t sure. But hey, and who was he to protest the destiny ordained to him by a magical blue jail cell and a creepy old man? They said to spend time with the weird doctor, the ex-yakuza, the failed politician, the teen idol on the edge of a breakdown? Well, Akira would do it - it wasn’t like he was very good at figuring out his own social life, after all.
Of all the things he expected for this pre-ordained friendship, however, a 3AM text to join Akechi at the Shimagawa Aquarium was not among them.

Summary
It was the first year of the new programme, and Blue still wasn’t sure about how he felt about the whole thing. The plan had been to just set up the programme and let someone else handle the middle-manning. In his head, they came to Kalos, handed the kids off to some less-famous shmuck, and then he and Red could spend the time enjoying the beautiful Lumiose autumn.
As was so often the case, that had kind of fallen apart as soon as Kukui had got involved.
“Cousin, people come to the Battle Tree to see you,” he had said. “I don’t think Alola’s finest are going to hand over their hard-earned cash for less.”
He’d looked over at Red, expecting to be backed up, as was only appropriate from your boyfriend. But Red had pursed his lips and, traitorously, nodded.
So, the Champion Exchange Programme had come about with Red and Blue at the helm - Alola’s most powerful trainers on a battle-training-catch extravaganza tour through Kalos. All while Kalos’s finest enjoyed the sunny Alola battle circuit, naturally.

“Let’s take the kids for a picnic.”
Bob put down the Grulovian plant he’d been interrogating, fixing Helmut with a stare.
“What?”
“We can put together some snacks for them and the Feelmobile’s all fixed up, might as well take her for a spin,” he said. “We can drive them down to the lake and take the afternoon off. All Raz is talking about lately is learning to swim, he and Lili will be thrilled.”
“Lili?” said Bob, and scratched behind his ear with a trowel. “I dunno, Helmut, I don’t – I don’t think she’d wanna spend time with me.”
“Please, of course she will,” said Helmut gently, nudging against Bob’s ankle.
“I – I don’t think Truman will want me around her...”
“It’s been six weeks babe,” added Helmut quietly. “You’re doing good.”

It’s been six weeks since everything with Maligula was resolved, and Bob and Helmut decide to take the kids for a picnic by the lake. -

Summary
“Snufkin!” cried Moomin, treading the surface of the water.
Snufkin couldn’t help but stare. Moomin’s face looked different – there was a patch of golden scales between his eyes, and his white fur had turned as sleek as a seal’s. And his voice – it was so hoarse, as though it pained him to speak. “You’re back! Oh, I’ve got so much tell you!”
“Clearly!” said Snufkin. “Moomin, what happened to your paws?”
Moomin’s lifted his paws further out of the water. There was golden webbing between his fingers. Moomin stretched them out, the sunlight making them glitter.
“You should see my tail,” said Moomin with a weak laugh, lifting his tail out of the water. Instead of his brush of soft fur, his tail now ended in a little fin, the same golden colour.

While Snufkin is on a trip, Moomin gets a potion from the Witch to spend half a day under the sea. But the incantation to turn him back didn't work. So Snufkin returns to find a Moominvalley in turmoil, as everyone desperately tries to find a way to turn things back to the way they were. -

Summary
Tuffe found something that always made them feel better. Buried like a dear secret, they kept a small stack of postcards, each with a little note and a sketch. Leaning to catch the swinging paraffin light above, they read the one on top of the pile.
It began in a cheerful looping hand, the name TUFFE in big letters, as though it was a word the author took great joy in writing. At the bottom was a small drawing of a hatted mumrik in yellow, smiling and holding a flower as big as him. Originally, it had been packaged with a pressed daisy, but in the theatre, even Tuffe found it easy to lose Snufkin’s little gifts.
Tuffe carefully counted the postcards. One, two, three, four, five. They arrived in November, every year since they first began their life in the theatre.
Every year, that is, until the last.

A little Woody runs away from the theatre, looking for someone who was kind to them years ago.

Summary
The Phantom Thieves have nearly secured their route through Maruki's Palace. There’s only one section left: The Twilight Corridor. A paradise where everything is perfect, and everyone is always smiling.
In order to enter that place, the Thieves must first prove they've "completed orientation" and can be "happy." There are points, there is a scoreboard, and they’re locked together in an experimental space where wishes can be granted by simply saying them aloud. Everyone has to individually earn 100 happiness points, or no one is leaving.
So what is “happiness,” really? How does Maruki define happiness? What the hell is a quantifiable happiness point? Is there any way around this? Don’t these stupid kids realize this is a trick to get them to fall back into the thrall of Maruki’s reality? And why can’t Goro earn any fucking points?
(Or: I've been watching too much Dropout Game Changer and I’ve built an Akechi torture chamber.)

The shadow’s laughter echoes, shrill and broken. “I am humanity’s shade,” she says, “Your hopes, your dreams. I am the stories you tell at night.”
“You’re testing my fucking patience,” Goro says, gritting his teeth.
She turns to look at him, tilting her head with slow, cat-like grace. Goro widens his stance and grips the hilt of his sword. He refuses to look away. She glances up and down his form, yellow eyes narrow, searching. Then, she stops; she smiles. “You can wake him up with love,” she says. “True love.”

There's something wrong with Goro. He doesn't care if Ren wears a dress, yet every time Ren puts one on, it feels like the world is ending all over again. For his boyfriend's sake, Goro needs to fix what's broken inside him, even if that requires drastic measures; even if it forces him to talk about his issues with a stranger. Or, worse, talk about them with Ren.
