Summary
He'd done it.
Actually done it.
Taken off after the Crown, and then had the gall to come back afterwards: adorned in divinity, apathy, and silver, with a heavy hand of self-importance.
Silver.
Second place. Second best.
Like he'd made Astarion, after the Crown.

Summary
Astarion swallowed one last time and pulled away, mindful not to rip more skin than he'd already injured, licking the wound to encourage clotting. He found Staeve smiling up woozily at him, his eyelids heavy and slow, his freckles and his scar starker against the pale complexion of the recently bloodless.
“Oh, dear,” Astarion murmured, taking his chin between two fingers to pull him closer and to have a better look at his face. “You seem loopier than usual, love. Did I take too much?”

Astarion is near the docks when he feels Cazador's compulsion on him snap. He doesn't think twice. He just takes the next available ship out of Baldur's Gate. Its destination: The City of Splendors. Waterdeep.

Gale takes back the glass, now empty, and then seems to fidget a little. “There is something I wanted to get your opinion on- but it can wait until you’ve recovered. You don’t look well at all- no offense meant, of course.”
“None taken,” Astarion says sweetly. “Please go on. Tell me exactly what it is about my appearance that you find lacking.”

Summary
The first thing he notices is that they’ve switched during the night. Gale is pressed against his back, shirtless and heavy with sleep, with an arm slung over Astarion’s side. He always slept so hot—like a human furnace.
The second thing he notices is the pressure—it's grounding. Comforting, as it’s grown to always be, every time. The temptation to slip his eyes shut and stay under the weighted warmth that is Gale is strong, and he debates moving at all, lest he wake the other.
The third thing he notices is that Gale is hard against him, pressed against the swell of where his thigh meets his ass.
He’s not uncomfortable; it's Gale. And where he’d told himself that over and over again at the start, it actually does bring him nothing but peace now. Maybe because it isn’t so forced anymore, and is now the actual passing thought he’d wanted it to be then.
Astarion closes his eyes, and thinks.
It’s not the first time he’s woken to this scenario—far from it, at this point. Having Gale wrapped around him half-naked just makes it so tempting.
To try.

“What's he like?” she asks. “Your wizard?”
He seems to think about it for a moment.
“Arrogant,” he finally says. “Insufferably clever. He claimed he could have been Mystra's Chosen, but he turned her down.”
The group (sans Tav) meet Astarion by the beach. They don't meet Gale. If you ask Astarion, that just means they have to look harder.

He'd never—ever—allowed himself to even daydream of something like this.
Dancing?
In the middle of Waterdeep? While he melted in his love's arms? Being crooned to?
It's almost too domestic—too sweet. A setting that would have made him uncomfortable even just a year ago, when he'd first woken up on that beach and felt the sun on his face.
It felt like a lifetime ago. Maybe a different one entirely, he thinks, as Gale sweeps his hand slow and heavy down over his spine, hums pleasantly in his ear.

Summary
“Aww.” Karlach cooed, eyes locked on something up ahead.
Astarion was clinging to Gale, arms wrapped around the other man’s shoulders and waist and their lips locked firmly together.
“The heat of battle understandably can stir desires, but to behave so brazenly in the open.” Lae’zel hissed, the public display being far too human for her liking or even understanding.
“I think it’s sweet.”
Lae’zels face twisted.
“Somethings wrong.” The gith's voice suddenly grave.

Atem is hunted, and Yugi is hunting him. A delicate game of predator and prey. Talking to his prey probably wasn’t his best play. But getting their hands stuck together and caught in a rainstorm definitely wasn’t part of the strategy. What’s this warmth in his chest?
Yugi isn’t sure what game he’s playing with this human anymore.

“Ah,” Gale startled, “Forgive me. I may have had a little too much to drink, I’m afraid.”
The stranger chuckled, and the sound slid like silk down Gale’s spine.
“What’s the occasion, may I ask?”
“The worst day of my life,” Gale replied, louder than he meant to. He raised his glass in a mock toast and tossed the last of the bourbon back.

Summary
Astarion props his chin up with his hand and glances over his shoulder at Halsin, who's staring intently at his cock lying thick and throbbing over the curve of Astarion's ass.
Understandable really. For the implication of just how deep he'll soon be inside Astarion is enough to surprise even this gentle giant.
Astarion smirks, lets the drag of his gaze pull Halsin's attention, and then says, "Oh don't be shy now, darling. We've barely gotten started."
Astarion wants to hide during sex. Halsin does not let him.

Summary
“The Weave is quite like a symphony. A stage full of musicians, bows and lips at the ready to begin creating music at the behest of the conductor.”
“Well, Professor Dekarios, I didn’t know you were so… well-rounded a scholar.”
——
Gale really likes metaphors (and Astarion). Astarion hates magic (but likes one wizard).
