    Summary

Watching Neil’s sleeping form Andrew pictures what he might look like a year from now. Two years. Neil as the team captain, him going pro. Him making court. Andrew pictured these images in his head, and in every image, he would regrettably have to say he saw himself, growing right alongside Neil.
For the first time, Andrew pictured himself growing old. For the first time, Andrew thought maybe he’d survive past his twenties. Something in him twisted at the thought, and he couldn’t say it was unwelcome.

    Summary

The woman on the stage, Andrew couldn’t care less about remembering her name, puts her hand in the oversized glass bowl and makes a show of digging through the little slips of paper.

Thirty-Eight times. His name is in there thirty-eight times.

The woman smiles at the name in her hand, as if she were announcing a winner of some sweet game. As if she were picking a child to receive a present. So easily, so sickeningly sincere she reads the name from the paper.

    “Aaron Minyard,”

And suddenly Andrew hears nothing. He doesn’t see Aaron blanch beside him. He doesn’t feel Aarons hand latch onto his arm. He doesn’t hear as Katelyn begins to sob. He doesn’t hear Nicky as he cries out. All Andrew sees is his brother on that television screen. He sees Aaron shot through the chest with the shaft of the arrow over his heart. He sees Aaron’s skull broken open with a rock. He sees the maybe hundreds of children he’s been forced to watch slaughter each other. He doesn’t feel as Aaron is torn from his side and forced to the center aisle, where he stumbles forward. Andrew sees his brother becoming just another name written in the capitals history only to be forgotten the following year and-

    Summary

“So, who are you really ‘Neil Josten'?”
Neil faltered, unsure of how to answer the question. By that point he was all out of lies. Ironic, considering his entire identity was a lie. Everything was so strange. He was lost.
    “I don’t know.”
“You don’t know who you are?”
“No,” Neil said. “I don’t know what I am.”

    -----------------------------

Neil Josten doesn’t exist, not really.

After spending his life running from an enemy just beyond the reach of his memory, Neil finds himself at Palmetto State University, desperately trying to build something real. However, strange things keep happening. Strange things that Neil can't explain. Strange things that leave Neil questioning who and what he really is.

And what exactly it is he's running from.

He searched, for something, anything. They were right there, right in front of him and he knew deep down in some other life, some other world he could love them. There was something. But when he closed his eyes it was Erwin. Erwin holding him at an arm's length away. Erwin towering over him, Erwin’s touch, Erwins hands, Erwins bed. Erwin dying on that roof. It would always be Erwin.

    Summary

It was too quiet for Aizawa to be comfortable. A smooth patrol - with not so much as a pickpocket - was unheard of. Perched on the edge of a rooftop, looking over the eerily quiet city, he watched as the night started to fade into dawn. For the past half hour he’d been waiting for something to go horrifically wrong, as per the norm of his career. But nothing happened. He watched as a handful of civilians went about their lives, returning home from graveyard shifts or on their way to the early morning ones, chugging coffee or stumbling drunk. It’s a sentiment he can appreciate.

Fine. He got lucky just this once, blessed with an easy patrol, he won’t return home bloody. He could ride the high of an easy night and make it home in time for a nap before he has to teach.

That was until he saw a kid on the roof of an abandoned building, swaying precariously on the edge.

    Or,

Aizawa happens across a certain green haired problem child stuck between life and death.

You wouldn’t think the number one pro heroes funeral would be such a small affair. You would imagine crowds of mourning citizens, fans, fellow heroes, and friends. You would picture an event for the ages, a fanfare of grief and hysterics.

    Izuku’s funeral was quiet.

    Summary

Bakugou Katsuki had more regrets than he knew what to do with, especially when it came to Midoriya Izuku. His words tended to haunt him like a ghost over his shoulders. In the end he knew Izuku had long forgiven him whether or not he should’ve.

But who was he to pity himself after everything he’d done?

Maybe at one point there had been a way to get back to the way things had been, but that chance was long gone.

Oftentimes he found himself longing for that same sense of home he had as a kid, trading Hero cards with Izuku on the floor of his parents living room.

There was no way home anymore.

    ---

Izuku laughed, only to choke on the blood leaking in his lungs. Reality settled in. They were both going to die, slow and painful. In all his years dreaming of heroics he understood the risks of the job, heroes were injured all the time. Heroes died. The notion of going out in a blaze of glory always sat on his younger mind. He thought there would be a beauty to the blast.

But there was nothing glorious about this.

“Kachann are you scared?” He mumbled through labored breathing, words beginning to slur with effort.

    “Yeah.”

    “I want to go home.”

    “Me too.”

    Summary

Izuku wasn’t sure how long he’d been conscious. All of the sudden his vision went blurry, and he was suddenly aware his eyes were open. The sky was a fuzzy mass of T.V. static. If he listened close enough, he could hear it over the ringing. He knew this feeling well, maybe too well. Maybe he’s too tired to recognize it.

Someone’s over him, pushing their knuckles against his sternum. Rubbing harsh and quick.

“Mi…”, the hand moved to the side of his neck, then his face, tapping. “Mi….ya…Mido……ith me? Midoriya!” The shape above him came slowly into focus, colors fading backward. Black hair…yellow band around his face…

    “Ss…Sen…”

“That’s it, kid, stay with me alright?” Aizawa’s hands moved to his torso, pressing hard on his side. “Just stay awake.”
