Summary
His hands are buried deep in his pockets, and he smells like cologne, something sharper, older, refined. She misses the faint vanilla from Devon’s perfume that lingered wherever she went, the aftershave he used before he could even grow a beard. He’s got a permanent shadow on his jaw, now.
He looks older. An entire different life she doesn’t really know about, and so many things she wants to ask about. Everything she has no right to know. Fill in the blanks, she thinks. Tell me something I don’t know. Tell me anything.

Summary
The man covered in blood is watching her.
Another gust of icy wind blows across her, burning at her skin and bare feet, halfway out the door. Something makes her stop, where she stands. His head tilts, eyes wary.
“Well?” She asks. Her breath still comes out in pants, unwilling to stay in this fucking building a second longer. “Are you coming? Or not?”

Summary
She starts by fixing her hair. Running her fingertips over her bangs, smoothing back the strands framing her face, gently teasing her crown until it sits slightly tousled. Smoothed, but perfected in the way Helly usually messes with it by mid-morning. She leans closer, fixes the slight crease in her concealer, the tip of her finger swiping beneath her eye.
She leans back, satisfied. Almost perfect, half distracted as she picks up the tube from the counter. At the moment she leans forward again to touch up her lips, the door swings open. Laughter drifts through from the kitchen, and Mark’s hands loosely hold his tie out, frowning as he moves over to the sink.

Summary
Mark’s wearing a dark green sweater, grayish pants, and stumbling out of his snow boots. “Oh.” He says, giving Petey a look, brow furrowed beneath his shaggy hair. He hasn’t shaved. “I uh..” He points a thumb backwards.
Petey cuts him off. “Thought you were going to work?”
Mark looks almost guilty. He’s missed that look. Petey raises an eyebrow, crosses his arms over his chest. “Playing hooky?”

Summary
The sun drifts down through the trees through the garden, a warm breeze ruffling over her untied hair, the back of Mark’s head. The sound of bird song is still a novelty to her. Something that she doesn’t take for granted. They should get a bird feeder. One of those baths, too, she thinks.

Summary
“It’ll take them less than five minutes for them to get suspicious,” Mark says between gasps, hoisting up Helena’s dress. “I’d say three. Maybe even two.”
Helena pulls him over to the sink by his collar and she jumps onto the edge, wrapping her legs around his middle. Her long fingers quickly unloop the hook on his belt, grinning as his trousers fall to the floor.
“We better be quick, then.”

Summary
Mark Scout wakes up alone in the stairwell. The panic is immediate: all the breath pressed from his lungs, his heart knocking wildly in his chest, something like electricity slithering under his skin. When last he’d been conscious, he had Gemma in his arms, her face pressed to his. Her voice still lingers in his mind: I’m sorry, she keeps repeating, again and again.
And now she’s gone.
--
A week after the events of the S2 finale, Mark Scout attempts to put together the pieces of his life. An added complication? He's still reintegrating, dreaming in Mark S.'s memories, and attempting to ignore the fact that his innie is trying to tell him something.

Summary
Mark thinks about a mirror, a cubicle, about Helly’s smart mouth. The axis of the world, slipped, some time ago, and the depth of some unknown horizontal. Yesterday he had remembered the words: prime meridian, but had not known who or where it was.
--
